Platform-level Distributed Warfare Model-based on Multi-Agent System Framework
The multi-agent paradigm has become a useful tool in solving military problems. However, one of key challenges in multi-agent model for distributed warfare could be how to describe the microcosmic tactical warfare platforms actions. In this paper, a platform-level distributed warfare model based on multi-agent system framework is designed to tackle this challenge. The basic ideas include: Establishing multi-agent model by mapping from tactical warfare system’s members, i.e., warfare platforms, to respective agents; performing task decomposition and task allocation by using task-tree decomposition method and improved contract net protocol model technique; and implementing simulation by presenting battlefield terrain environment analysis algorithm based on grid approach. The simulation demonstration results show that our model provides a feasible and effective approach to supporting the abstraction and representation of microcosmic tactical actions for complex warfare system.Defence Science Journal, 2012, 62(1), pp.180-186, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.62.96
Quantum Hall Effects in a Non-Abelian Honeycomb Lattice
We study the tunable quantum Hall effects in a non-Abelian honeycomb optical
lattice which is a many-Dirac-points system. We find that the quantum Hall
effects present different features as change as relative strengths of several
perturbations. Namely, a gauge-field-dressed next-nearest-neighbor hopping can
induce the quantum spin Hall effect and a Zeeman field can induce a so-called
quantum anomalous valley Hall effect which includes two copies of quantum Hall
states with opposite Chern numbers and counter-propagating edge states. Our
study extends the borders of the field of quantum Hall effects in honeycomb
optical lattice when the internal valley degrees of freedom enlarge.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
An improved method for predicting CO2 minimum miscibility pressure based on artificial neural network
The CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method is widely used in actual oilfields. It is extremely important to accurately predict the CO2 minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) for CO2-EOR. At present, many studies about MMP prediction are based on empirical, experimental, or numerical simulation methods, but these methods have limitations in accuracy or computation efficiency. Therefore, more work needs to be done. In this work, with the results of the slim-tube experiment and the data expansion of the multiple mixing cell methods, an improved artificial neural network (ANN) model that predicts CO2 MMP by the full composition of the crude oil and temperature is trained. To stabilize the neural network training process, L2 regularization and Dropout are used to address the issue of over-fitting in neural networks. Predicting results show that the ANN model with Dropout possesses higher prediction accuracy and stronger generalization ability. Then, based on the validation sample evaluation, the mean absolute percentage error and R-square of the ANN model are 6.99 and 0.948, respectively. Finally, the improved ANN model is tested by six samples obtained from slim-tube experiment results. The results indicate that the improved ANN model has extremely low time cost and high accuracy to predict CO2 MMP, which is of great significance for CO2-EOR.Cited as: Dong, P., Liao, X., Chen, Z., Chu, H. Case report: Retrograde endovascular recanalization of vertebral artery occlusion with non-tapered stump via the deep cervical collateral
IntroductionVertebral artery (VA) occlusive disease is the major cause of posterior circulation ischemic stroke. Endovascular recanalization has been reported as a feasible treatment for patients with symptomatic VA occlusion refractory to optimal medical therapy. However, VA occlusion with non-tapered stump exhibits a low technique success rate when treated by antegrade endovascular therapy because of increased difficulty in passing the guidewire into the occluded segment. Herein, we presented a novel endovascular approach to recanalize chronically occluded VA with a non-tapered stump using a retrograde method via the deep cervical collateral, which has not been reported before.Case presentationThe present case was a patient with VA ostial occlusion with non-tapered stump and distal severe stenosis of the left VA who had recurrent posterior circulation transit ischemic attacks under optimal medical therapy. CT angiography demonstrated proximal non-tapered occlusion and distal severe stenosis of the left VA, and that the right VA did not converge with the left VA into basilar artery. Endovascular treatment was recommended and performed on this patient. However, antegrade endovascular recanalization of the left VA origin occlusion failed because the micro guidewire was unable to traverse the occluded segment. Fortunately, robust collateral from the deep cervical artery to the V3 segment of the left VA developed, in which we advanced the micro guidewire to the V3 segment of the left VA and reversely passed the micro guidewire through the occluded segment. Then, the occlusion and stenosis of the left VA were successfully resolved with angioplasty and stenting. After the procedure, the patient reported no neurological symptoms under medical therapy during 3-month follow-up.ConclusionAntegrade endovascular recanalization of VA occlusion with a non-tapered stump is a challenge. The retrograde endovascular method via the cervical collateral may be an alternative for this type of VA occlusion, which requires further exploration
Investigation and identification of let-7a related functional proteins in gastric carcinoma by proteomics
Abstract. MicroRNAs are small noncoding RNA molecules that control expression of target genes. Our previous studies show that let-7a decreased in gastric carcinoma and that up-regulation of let-7a by gene augmentation inhibited gastric carcinoma cell growth both in vitro and in vivo, whereas it remains largely unclear as to how let-7a affects tumor growth. In this study, proteins associated with the function of let-7a were detected by high throughout screening. The cell line of SGC-7901 stablely overexpressing let-7a was successfully established by gene cloning. Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DEy was used to separate the total proteins of SGC-7901/let-7a, SGC-7901/EV and SGC-7901, and PDQuest software was applied to analyze 2-DE images. Ten different protein spots were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS, and they may be the proteins associated with let-7a function. The overexpressed proteins included Antioxidant protein 2, Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2, Protein disulfide isomerase A2, C-1-tetrahydrofolate synthase, Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor1 (CDKN1) and Rho-GTPase activating protein 4. The underexpressed proteins consisted of S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Spk2), Platelet membrane glycoprotein, Fibronectin and Cks1 protein. Furthermore, the different expression levels of the partial proteins (CDKN1, Spk2 and Fibronectin) were confirmed by western blot analysis. The data suggest that these differential proteins are involved in a novel let-7a signal pathway and these findings provide the basis to investigate the functional mechanisms of let-7a in gastric carcinoma
Aberrant Methylation of Thrombospondin-1 and Its Association with Reduced Expression in Gastric Cardia Adenocarcinoma
Aim. Investigate the promoter methylation of the Thrombospondin-1 (TSP1) gene in gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA). Methods. MSP approach, immunohistochemistry method, and RT-PCR were used respectively to examine the promoter methylation of TSP1, its protein and mRNA expression in tumors and corresponding normal tissues. The expression and concentration of TGF-β1 were examined respectively by immunohistochemistry and ELISA method. The status of T cell immunity was examined by Flow cytometry analysis. Results. TSP1 was methylated in 34/96 (35.4%) tumor specimens, which was significantly higher than that in corresponding normal tissues (P < .001). Protein and mRNA expression of TSP1 in GCA tumor tissues were reduced significantly and were associated with TSP1 methylation. The protein expression of TGF-β1 was significantly higher in tumor tissues (P < .001) and was associated with TNM stage and histological differentiation. The concentration of active and total TGF-β1 did not show significant difference between the GCA patients with hypermethylation of TSP1 and without methylation of TSP1 (P > .05). The function of T cell immunity was significantly different between the GCA patients with hypermethylation of TSP1 and without methylation of TSP1. Conclusions. Epigenetic silencing of TSP1 gene by promoter hypermethylation may play an important role in GCA
Partial melting of amphibolitic lower crust and subsequent melt-crystal separation for generation of the Early Eocene magmatism in eastern Himalaya
The Himalayan leucogranites provide a good opportunity to investigate the crustal evolution of the southern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In this study, we present zircon U-Pb and monazite U-Th-Pb ages, zircon Hf isotopes and whole-rock Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes and major and trace elements for the Liemai two-mica granite, eastern Himalaya. Together with previously published data we revalued the petrogenesis of the Early Eocene magmatic rocks in this region and their geological implications. The zircon and monazite U-(Th)-Pb dating results showed that the Liemai two-mica granite was generated at ∼ 43 Ma, similar to adjacent Yardoi, Dala and Quedang adakitic two-mica granites, Ridang subvolcanic rocks and Yardoi leucogranite. The Liemai two-mica granite, similar to these coeval adakitic two-mica granites, is enriched in SiO2, Al2O3, Th, U, Pb, La, and Sr, and depleted in MgO, total iron, Yb and Y with high Sr/Y and (La/Yb)N ratios (showing adakitic affinities), and exhibits enriched Sr-Nd-Pb-Hf isotopic compositions, suggesting an origin of a thickened lower crust consisting mainly of garnet amphibolite. Although the Ridang subvolcanic rocks and Yardoi leucogranite show similar Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes to these adjacent coeval two-mica granites, perceptible differences in whole-rock major and trace elements can be observed. Broadly, these granites can be divided into high-Mg# granites (HMGs, the two-mica granites) and low-Mg# granites (LMGs, the Ridang subvolcanic rocks and Yardoi leucogranite). The former has relatively higher contents of total iron, MgO, Mg#, TiO2, P2O5, LREE, Y, Th, Sr, incompatible elements (Cr and Ni) and Eu/Eu* values, and lower contents of SiO2 and Rb/Sr and Rb/Ba ratios, thus is less evolved than the latter. According to recent studies of differentiation processes in silicic magma reservoirs, we proposed that the HMGs represent a congealed crystal mush that was composed of ‘cumulate crystals’ and a trapped interstitial liquid, while the LMGs represent the almost pure liquid that was extracted from the crystal mush. Modeling using the trace elements Sr and Ba shows that the extraction probably occurred when the crystallinity of the mush was ∼ 60%–63%, at least for the most evolved LMGs sample. The HMGs correspond to a residual crystal mush that had a terminal porosity of ∼ 21%–25% filled with a trapped interstitial liquid. Underplating of mafic magmas following slab breakoff of the Neo-Tethys oceanic lithosphere caused partial melting of the amphibolitic lower crust, which had been thickened to ~50 km prior to ~43 Ma
