Technical specification for the procurement of wavelength-shifting fibres for the LHCb calorimeters

    No full text
For the optics systems of the Electromagnetic (ECAL) and Hadronic (HCAL) Calorimeters of the LHCb Experiment at the future Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Geneva Switzerland, large quantities of wavelength-shifting (WLS) fibres will be used. The fibres collect and transmit to photomultiplier tubes the light produced by ionising particles in scintillator tiles. In the ECAL the fibres penetrate the scintillator tiles perpendicularly through holes, while in the HCAL the fibres are running along the edge of a tile. In this document we define the exact quantity and quality of the required WLS fibres, and the delivery schedule
