THE USE OF BUDGETS IN FORECASTING THE ACTIVITY OF THE FIRM
The firm’s activity is recommended to develop in a permanent equilibrium between incomes and expenses. In the actual stage of transition of Romanian economy, the firms can not maintain this equilibrium because the expenses determined by the achievement of production overtake the level of the incomes obtained from the selling of production even when certain branches of activity are subsidized from the public budget. In these conditions, finding the methods that allow the sizing and control of the equilibrium relation between expenses and incomes represents a problem with which the firm’s management confronts. From this point of view the budget can become an instrument of correlation and especially of turning to good account the relation between incomes and expenses. Budgeting becomes a systematic economic practice that assumes the development of a process of formal assignment of financial resources that aim at the achievement of some established objectives for the future periods.budget, budgeting, forecasting, management by using budgets, expenditure budget, budget holders, manufacturing costs.

Size, shape, and flexibility of RNA structures
Determination of sizes and flexibilities of RNA molecules is important in
understanding the nature of packing in folded structures and in elucidating
interactions between RNA and DNA or proteins. Using the coordinates of the
structures of RNA in the Protein Data Bank we find that the size of the folded
RNA structures, measured using the radius of gyration, , follows the Flory
scaling law, namely, \AA where N is the number of
nucleotides. The shape of RNA molecules is characterized by the asphericity
and the shape parameters that are computed using the eigenvalues
of the moment of inertia tensor. From the distribution of , we find
that a large fraction of folded RNA structures are aspherical and the
distribution of values shows that RNA molecules are prolate (). The
flexibility of folded structures is characterized by the persistence length
. By fitting the distance distribution function to the worm-like
chain model we extracted the persistence length . We find that \AA. The dependence of on implies the average length of
helices should increases as the size of RNA grows. We also analyze packing in
the structures of ribosomes (30S, 50S, and 70S) in terms of , ,
, and . The 70S and the 50S subunits are more spherical compared to
most RNA molecules. The globularity in 50S is due to the presence of an
unusually large number (compared to 30S subunit) of small helices that are
stitched together by bulges and loops. Comparison of the shapes of the intact
70S ribosome and the constituent particles suggests that folding of the
individual molecules might occur prior to assembly.Comment: 28 pages, 8 figures, J. Chem. Phys. in pres
Strategic manoeuvring in simultaneous discussions
In public political discussions, an accusation of inconsistency can play a role in a number of discussions that run simultaneously. In this paper, I discuss the implications of considering the different simultaneous discussions to which the accusation contributes when examining it. While the different politi-cal considerations derived from these discussions can shed significant light on the strategic function of the accusation, such considerations may also lead to an inconsistent critical evaluation of it

London is a globally recognised hub for technology, design and creative genius. While many cities around the world can claim to be hubs for technology entrepreneurship, London’s distinctive potential lies in the successful fusion of world-leading technology with world-leading design and creativity. As innovation thrives at the edge, where better to innovate than across the boundaries of these two clusters and cultures? This booklet tells the story of Fusion’s innovation journey, its partners and its unique business support. Most importantly of all it tells stories of companies that, having worked with London Fusion, have innovated and grown. We hope that it will inspire others to follow and build on our beginnings.European Regional Development Fund 2007-13
Indoor Air Quality – a Key Element of the Energy Performance of the Buildings
AbstractThe inadequate thermal performance of existing buildings and ventilation strategies in buildings are currently the biggest challenges for the housing sector in Central and Eastern Europe in the context of addressing the sustainability and health of the built environment. Lack of adequate ventilation of indoor spaces causes poor air quality and a higher incidence of sick building syndrome (SBS), which is manifested by affecting the comfort and wellbeing in the living space. Ensuring high energy performance buildings and indoor air quality is efficiently approached by limiting emissions from sources or by partial neutralization of the pollutants, an important stage being the establishing specific emissions levels by performing monitoring studies of indoor air quality. In this context, the paper presents experimental studies focused on monitoring the concentrations of volatile organic compounds, inorganic compounds and particulate matter, from indoor air in residential spaces located in the urban area of Bucharest, Romania. The obtained results highlight the fact that in analysed spaces there are concentrations of pollutants whose values should be considered to improve the indoor air quality while addressing effectively the upgrade of energy performance in buildings
Ascaroside Signaling Is Widely Conserved among Nematodes
Background: Nematodes are among the most successful animals on earth and include important human pathogens, yet little is known about nematode pheromone systems. A group of small molecules called ascarosides has been found to mediate mate finding, aggregation, and developmental diapause in Caenorhabditis elegans, but it is unknown whether ascaroside signaling exists outside of the genus Caenorhabditis.
Results: To determine whether ascarosides are used as signaling molecules by other nematode species, we performed a mass spectrometry-based screen for ascarosides in secretions from a variety of both free-living and parasitic (plant, insect, and animal) nematodes. We found that most of the species analyzed, including nematodes from several different clades, produce species-specific ascaroside mixtures. In some cases, ascaroside biosynthesis patterns appear to correlate with phylogeny, whereas in other cases, biosynthesis seems to correlate with lifestyle and ecological niche. We further show that ascarosides mediate distinct nematode behaviors, such as retention, avoidance, and long-range attraction, and that different nematode species respond to distinct, but overlapping, sets of ascarosides.
Conclusions: Our findings indicate that nematodes utilize a conserved family of signaling molecules despite having evolved to occupy diverse ecologies. Their structural features and level of conservation are evocative of bacterial quorum sensing, where acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) are both produced and sensed by many species of gram-negative bacteria. The identification of species-specific ascaroside profiles may enable pheromone-based approaches to interfere with reproduction and survival of parasitic nematodes, which are responsible for significant agricultural losses and many human diseases worldwide
Dissociable auditory mismatch response and connectivity patterns in adolescents with schizophrenia and adolescents with bipolar disorder with psychosis: A magnetoencephalography study
BACKGROUND: There is overlap between schizophrenia and bipolar disorder regarding genetic risk as well as neuropsychological and structural brain deficits. Finding common and distinct event-response potential (ERP) responses and connectivity patterns may offer potential biomarkers to distinguish the disorders.
OBJECTIVE: To examine the neuronal auditory response elicited by a roving mismatch negativity (MMN) paradigm using magnetoencephalography (MEG).
PARTICIPANTS: 15 Adolescents with schizophrenia (ASZ), 16 adolescents with bipolar disorder with psychosis (ABP), and 14 typically developing individuals (TD)
METHODS: The data were analysed using time-series techniques and dynamic causal modelling (DCM).
OUTCOME MEASURES: MEG difference wave (deviant - standard) at primary auditory (~90ms), MMN (~180ms) and long latency (~300ms).
RESULTS: The amplitude of difference wave showed specific patterns at all latencies. Most notably, it was significantly reduced ABP compared to both controls and ASZ at early latencies. In contrast, the amplitude was significantly reduced in ASZ compared to both controls and ABP. The DCM analysis showed differential connectivity patterns in all three groups. Most notably, inter-hemispheric connections were strongly dominated by the right side in ASZ only.
CONCLUSIONS: Dissociable patterns of the primary auditory response and MMN response indicate possible developmentally sensitive, but separate biomarkers for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
A Convex Surface with Fractal Curvature
We construct a surface that is obtained from the octahedron by pushing out 4
of the faces so that the curvature is supported in a copy of the Sierpinski
gasket in each of them, and is essentially the self similar measure on SG. We
then compute the bottom of the spectrum of the associated Laplacian using the
finite element method on polyhedral approximations of our surface, and
speculate on the behavior of the entire spectrum.Comment: 18 pages, 24 picture
Universal measurability and the Hochschild class of the Chern character
We study notions of measurability for singular traces, and characterise universal measurability for operators in Dixmier ideals. This measurability result is then applied to improve on the various proofs of Connes\u27 identification of the Hochschild class of the Chern character of Dixmier summable spectral triples. The measurability results show that the identification of the Hochschild class is independent of the choice of singular trace. As a corollary we obtain strong information on the asymptotics of the eigenvalues of operators naturally associated to spectral triples (A, H, D) and Hochschild cycles for A
