Divorce Practices Among Some North American Indian Tribes

The objective of this study is to present on overview of marriage termination practices among North American Indians and to compare the practices of these early inhabitants of the continent with contemporary practices. The Human Relations Area File was utilized to gather information on marriage termination practices of North American Indian tribes. Divorce was the most common practice used by the Indians; and divorce grounds available to them proved to be similar to contemporary North American customs. The consequences of divorce varied with different Indian tribes, but all tribes studied had similar attitudes toward coring for children of divorced parents

Death Education in U.S. Medical Schools: 1975-1980

Surveys from 1975 and 1980 of U.S. medical schools\u27 offerings in death education are compared. A 95 and 96 percent return rate, respectively, for each survey revealed a slight increase in offerings in 1980. A team approach is used, with physicians and theologians most often being cited as facilitators of a lecture/ discussion format

Anxiety and Safety: Two Studies ol the Kentucky Coal Miner

Two reports offer insight into the personality and working conditions of the Kentucky Coal miner. Dr. George E. Dickinson\u27s survey measures death anxiety among miners; Dr. Stuart S. Sprague\u27s correlated report tracks the often volatile effort to legislate and enforce safety regulations. Both reports arrive at one perhaps startling conclusion: many miners agree - and are somewhat supported by statistics - that they themselves are most frequently to blame for accidents

Constitutionality of the LA Follette Amendment to the Internal Revenue Law of 1921 - The United States Senate on November 5, 1921, inserted in the Revenue Act, then before the Senate, a provision that taxpayers in their income tax returns must specify what state and municipal bonds they hold, or else be subject to a penalty of five per cent. That provision was dropped out in conference, but it will come up again, and it is well to look at its constitutionality under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution prohibiting unreasonable searches
