    MORFEO enters final design phase

MORFEO (Multi-conjugate adaptive Optics Relay For ELT Observations, formerly MAORY), the MCAO system for the ELT, will provide diffraction-limited optical quality to the large field camera MICADO. MORFEO has officially passed the Preliminary Design Review and it is entering the final design phase. We present the current status of the project, with a focus on the adaptive optics system aspects and expected milestones during the next project phase

Documento consegnato ad ESO nell'ambito della Preliminary Design Review dello strumento MAORY e sottoposto a review da parte del Board di ESO.This document provides a general overview of the MAORY system with a description of the general architecture and the main characteristics of all sub-systems. A short description of the performance expected is also provided. A more detailed description of the MAORY design is available in the document MAORY Design Report while for all the AO related aspects of MAORY the reader is referred to the MAORY AO Design and Analysis Report. This document can be viewed, together with the Executive Summary and the MAORY System Design Report, as an introductory reading to understand the MAORY instrumen

TELEIOS: A Database-Powered Virtual Earth Observatory

TELEIOS is a European project that addresses the need for scalable access to petabytes of Earth Observation data and the discovery and exploitation of knowledge that is hidden in them. TELEIOS builds on scientific database technologies (array databases, SciQL, data vaults) and Semantic Web technologies (stRDF and stSPARQL) implemented on top of a state of the art column store database system (MonetDB). We demonstrate a first prototype of the TELEIOS Virtual Earth Observatory architecture, using a forest fire monitoring application as example
