This volume of the German Meteorological Yearbook continues a series that was started in 1953 for the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. Daily observations are published for 10 measuring stations and monthly and yearly values for 155 stations. Daily sums of global radiation as well as sunshine hours are presented for 6 selected stations of the DWD radiation measuring network. Monthly and yearly precipitation data are presented for all stations; for some stations, also the daily precipitation and snow cover thickness. 4. Fachtagung BIOMET des Fachausschusses BIOMET der DMG gemeinsam mit der Gesellschaft zur Foerderung Medizin-Meteorologischer Forschung e.V

Bei der Tagung wurden insgesamt 46 Vortraege zu den Themen Agrarmeteorologie, Phaenologie, Forstmeteorologie und Human-Biometeorologie gehalten. Davon liegen acht nur in Abstractform vor. Von 12 Vortraegen bzw. Abstracts wurden Einzelaufnahmen angefertigt. The volume displays the compiled meteorological data which were measured by the Deutscher Wetterdienst (German weather services) during the year 2001. Data are given of all weather measuring stations: temperature, air pressure, wind, sunshine, rain, snow cover, vapor pressure. Annual, monthly and daily means are displayed numerically and in maps. Phenomenological observations of plants like flowering seasons of apples are given. Data are available on cd-rom. The year 2001 was characterised by continued adjustment in human resources, with increased influence on the strategic development of the DWD. In the technical sector progress was made in the quality of weather forecasting, although further model development could not be carried out as planned, due to the computer change. The Business Units worked well on the whole, in spite of the less than ideal business environment, whereby competition, especially in the media sector, has become stiffer, resulting in sale losses. Internationally, the DWD gave its support to European projects to the best of its ability and took over the leadership for stellite climatology and for the upper air ascents from merchant ships. (orig.)Das Jahr 2001 war gekennzeichnet durch unveraenderte Anpassungen im Personalbereich mit zunehmendem Einfluss auf die strategische Entwicklung des DWD. Die Facharbeit zeigte Fortschritte in der Wettervorhersageguete, obwohl die weitere Modellentwicklung wegen des Computerwechsels nicht wie geplant umgesetzt werden konnte. Die Geschaeftsfelder entwickelten sich trotz der nicht optimalen Rahmenbedingungen insgesamt zufriedenstellend, wobei der Wettbewerb insbesondere im Medienbereich intensiver geworden ist und Umsatzeinbussen zur Folge hatte. International setzte sich der DWD nach Kraeften im Rahmen europaeischer Projekte ein und uebernahm die Federfuehrung fuer Satellitenklimatologie sowie fuer die Aerologischen Aufstiege von Handelsschiffen.
