Entwicklung und Anwendung von Untersuchungsmethoden fuer einen optimalen Aktivkohleeinsatz zur Trinkwasseraufbereitung in den neuen Bundeslaendern (Teil 1 und 2) Abschlussbericht

The objective of the research program was to provide data for waterworks along the river Elbe, necessary for the successful use of filters, filled with granular activated carbon (GAC). A combination of methods, typical for chemistry and process engineering, with a mathematical interpretation of data measured were applied. The results suggested a higher concentration of organic matter in the river Elbe in comparison to the river Rhine. Because a considerable part of organic matter in the river Elbe comes from run off, the concentration of organic matter will remain approximately constant in the future. A biological treatment of the Elbe water showed an improved adsorbability of the organic substances yielding to a increase of competitive adsorption with micropollutants. This effect decreases the removal capacity of GAC-filters for micropollutants. This effect is especially important because the waterworks located along the river Elbe use a biological treatment step such as bankfiltration for drinking water treatment. A higher concentration and a better adsorbability of organic matter in the river Elbe in comparison to the river Rhine mean a more efficient use of GAC-filters for the treatment of Rhine water. Moreover investigations were carried out to improve the prediction of the runtime of GAC adsorbers. Recent studies showed a increase of organic sulphur in raw waters used also for drinking water treatment. This was the reason for determining equilibrium, kinetic and competitive adsorption of selected organic substances, containing sulphur. Emissionsmessungen gasbeheizter Anlagen im Haushalt- und Kleingewerbebereich Entwurf. Technisches Arbeitsblatt

Das Arbeitsblatt ist gueltig fuer Anlagen mit Feuerungswaermeleistungen bis 10 MW, es soll ueber die Vereinheitlichung der Messungen eine bessere Vergleichbarkeit der Ergebnisse ermoeglichen. Es wird eine schematische Darstellung der Messeinrichtung gegeben. Fuer die Messung von NO_x sind Chemilumineszenz-, IR- und UV-Verfahren vorgesehen, zur Messung von CO und CO_2 IR-Verfahren und zur O_2-Messung paramagnetische Sauerstoffmessgeraete. Weitere Angaben betreffen die Voraussetzungen fuer die Messdurchfuehrung sowie die Auswertung der Messungen, die Erstellung des Messberichts, notwendige Kenndaten zur Anlage und den Brenngasen und fuer diesen technischen Bereich gueltige Vorschriften und Regeln. A chart of the measuring device is represented, and the methods applied are summarized (chemiluminescence, IR and UV methods for measurement of nitrogen oxides, IR methods for measurement of carbon oxides and carbon dioxides, paramagnetic oxygen method for measurement of dioxides). The prerequisites for measurement and evaluation are described, and details are given about the preparation of test records, the required plant and fuel gas parameters, and the applicable standards and regulations.
