Bulk viscosity effects on elliptic flow

The effects of bulk viscosity on the elliptic flow v2v_{2} are studied using realistic equation of state and realistic transport coefficients. We find that thebulk viscosity acts in a non trivial manner on v2v_{2}. At low pTp_{T}, the reduction of v2v_{2} is even more effective compared to the case of shear viscosity, whereas at high pTp_{T}, an enhancement of v2v_{2} compared to the ideal case is observed. We argue that this is caused by the competition of the critical behavior of the equation of state and the transport coefficients.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures - To appear in the conference proceedings for Quark Matter 2009, March 30 - April 4, Knoxville, Tennesse

Derivation of transient relativistic fluid dynamics from the Boltzmann equation for a multi-component system

We derive the non-equilibrium single-particle momentum distribution function of a hadron resonance gas. We then study the effects that this newly derived expression can have in the freeze-out description of fluid-dynamical models of heavy ion collisions and compare it with the method traditionally employed, the 14-moment approximation.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, submitted to the proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Ultrarelativistic Nucleus-Nucleus Collisions, Quark Matter 2012, August 13-18, 2012, Washington D
