Ultrasound promoted Barbier reactions and Csp3 - Csp2 Stille coupling for the synthesis of diarylmethanes and substituted benzophenones
Here we present the preparation of a variety of diarylmethanes obtained via ultrasound Stille coupling under palladium catalysis between some substituted aryl compounds and benzyltributyltin compounds generated through sonicated Barbier reaction in a very short time reaction and excellent yield. The study reported below compares different methods to optimize the synthesis of usually unstable benzyltin derivatives and is another contribution to the investigation of Csp3-Csp2 coupling process involving benzyl?aryl reagents. Substituted carboxylated benzophenones were easily prepared in a very good yield by oxidation of some diarylmethanes.Fil: Ocampo, Romina Andrea. Schizophrenia: Early Recognition and Prevention
Schizophrenia is a heterogenous disorder presenting as episodes of psychosis against a background of cognitive, social, and functional impairments. Schizophrenia, a multifaceted neuropsychiatric disorder, is affecting approximately 1% of the population worldwide. Its onset is the result of a complex interplay of genetic predisposition and environmental factors. The clinical staging model of psychotic disorders implies that early successful treatment may improve prognosis and prevent progression to more severe stages of disorder. So, prevention and early intervention of schizophrenia are correlated with the prodromal phase, especially with âat risk mental stateâ (ARMS) and the prediction of their transition to a full-blown psychotic disorder. The psychosis prodrome includes nonspecific signs and symptoms (such as depressed mood, anxiety, sleep disturbance, and deterioration in role functioning), âbasic symptomsâ (thought interference, disturbance of receptive language, and visual perception disturbance), attenuated or subthreshold psychotic symptoms, neurocognitive deficits, and neurobiological changes measured via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Increasing improvements in the identification of those truly at âhigh riskâ for psychotic disorder have paved the way of early intervention strategies in this population and increased the possibility of minimizing distress and disability and delaying or even preventing the onset of an evident psychotic disorder. The treatment (antipsychotic medication, psychological and social interventions) for young people who meet ARMS criteria should not only focus on the symptoms that constitute the ARMS criteria but also address the broader range of difficulties with which the young person might present. There are some ethical issues to consider when selecting specific treatment options, and the potential risks of treatment have to be balanced against the potential benefits
The psychosocial impact of vaginal delivery and cesarean section in primiparous women
The aim of this study was to identify how the method of delivery and birth experience interfere with maternal psychological status early after puerperium. We conducted a prospective study on 148 women after puerperium from November 2017 to January 2018 in Bucur Maternity Hospital. Women that delivered vaginally mobilized in the first 6 hours in 73.7% of the cases, but for cesarean section after 12- 24 hours in 43.6% of the cases. Women described good support from the obstetrician in 58.1% of the cases. 90.5% of the women reported that the method of delivery did not have an impact on infant care and 73% had no lactation problems. The majority described little trauma, in 32.4% of the cases. 70.3% of the patients reported that they wanted to have more children and 59.5% of them desired the same method of delivery. Negative feelings, lactation, and taking care of the baby were not influenced in this study by the method of delivery, but by prematurity of birth and the complications that women experienced at birth
Synthesis, characterization and antifungal assessment of optically active bis-organotin compounds derived from (S)-BINOL diesters
Background: Organotin(IV) derivatives have appeared recently as potential biologically active metallopharmaceuticals exhibiting a variety of therapeutic activities. Hence, it is important to study the synthesis of new organotin compounds with low toxicity that may be of pharmacological interest. Objectives:This study focuses on the synthesis of new bis-stannylated derivatives with C2 symmetry that could be tested as antifungal agents against two clinical important fungal species, Cryptococcus neoformans and Candida albicans. Methods:The radical addition of triorganotin hydrides (R3SnH) and diorganotin chlorohydrides (R2ClSnH) to bis-α,ÎČ-unsaturated diesters derived from (S)-BINOL led to the corresponding new bis-stannylated derivatives with C2 symmetry. Nine pure organotin compounds were synthesized with defined stereochemistry. Four of them were enantiomerically pure and four were diastereoisomeric mixtures. Results:All new organotin compounds were fully characterized, those with phenyl ligands bonded to tin were the most active compounds against both the strains (Cryptococcus neoformans and Candida albicans), with activity parameters of IC50 close to those of the reference drug (amphotericin B).Conclusion:Nine pure organotin compounds with C2 symmetry were synthesized with defined stereochemistry and their antifungal properties were tested against two clinical important fungi with IC values close to those of the reference drug. The structure-containing preferably two or three phenyl groups joined to the tin atom were highly active against both the strains compared with those possessing tri-n-butyl groups.Fil: Costantino, Andrea Rosana. Influence of Pollen, Chia Seeds and Cranberries Addition on the Physical and Probiotics Characteristics of Yogurt
Yoghurt is a fermented milk product obtained from fermentation of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus strains. The effect of bee pollen, chia seeds and cranberries on the viability of probiotic bacteria in yogurts during storage (21 days) at refrigerated temperature (4Ă°C) was evaluated. The yogurt supplementation with 1,4 % chia seeds and 7,6% cranberries significantly improves the stability of the lactic acid bacteria, that contained the recommended levels of (106-107 cfu/g) probiotic bacteria at the end of 21-day shelf life
Sonochemical synthesis of bis(tri-n-butylstannyl) aromatic compounds via Barbier-like reactions
This paper reports a study of the synthesis of aryltri-n-butylstannanes via a sonochemical Barbier reaction of aryl- and heteroaryl bromides with bis(tri-n-butyltin) oxide (2) in THF. Our results demonstrate that, despite previous reports on contrary, the aryltributylstannanes can also be obtained under the same reaction conditions via sonicated reactions between aryl monobromides and tri-nbutyltin chloride (2). A comparative study of the reactions of electrophiles 2 and 3 with bromobenzene, 2-bromopyridin, o- and m-bromoanisole, m-bromotoluene, 9-bromophenthrene, and 9-bromoanthracene, indicates that the corresponding aryl- and heteroaryl-tri-n-butylstannyl derivatives are obtained in about the same yields. Best reaction conditions and the results obtained in the investigation of the sonicated reactions between several aromatic and heteroaromatic dibromides are also reported. It was found that the reactions using 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-dibromobenzenes, 4,40-dibromobiphenyl, 1,4-dibromonaphthalene, 2,5- and 3,5-dibromopyridines, and 2,5-dibromothiophene lead to the corresponding bis(tri-n-butylstannylated) derivatives in many cases in very high yields. Also the excellent results obtained in the sonicated reactions of 1,3,5-tribromobenzene with 2 and 3 are reported.Fil: Gerbino, DarĂo CĂ©sar. The synthesis of C2 symmetry diesters of (3R,4R)-TTFOL through a green and stereoselective (2R,3R)-TADDOL rearrangement
An efficient, green, and atom economic methodology for the stereoselective synthesis of C2 symmetry (3R,4R)-TTFOL diester derivatives has been developed. The procedure occurs through a (2R,3R)-TADDOL dioxolane cleavage and rearrangement under mild conditions by its reaction with a carboxylic acid in the presence of TFAA/H3PO4 without the need for an inert atmosphere to give generally high yields.Fil: Costantino, Andrea Rosana. 14q13 distal microdeletion encompassing NKX2-1 and PAX9: Patient report and refinement of the associated phenotype
Chromosome 14q11-q22 deletion syndrome (OMIM 613457) is a rare genomic disorder whose associated phenotype is heterogeneous, depending on the size, and, mostly, on the deleted region. We report the clinical and molecular characterization of a female newborn, whose phenotype was characterized by poor growth, dysmorphic facial features, subclinical hypothyroidism, and mild reduction of CD3CD8 Lymphocytes with increased CD4/CD8 ratio. By array-CGH, we identified a 4.08 de novo interstitial deletion of the 14q13.2q21.1 region, which includes 16 OMIM genes. Our patient phenotype is compared with other published cases, for a better classification of the 14q11-q22 deletion syndrome. We demonstrated that the 14q13.2q21.1 deletion, which encompasses NKX2-1, but not FOXG1 gene and HPE8 region, identifies a well defined, more benign, microdeletion syndrome. This report confirms that an early identification with accurate characterization of the genomic disorders is of great relevance, enabling proper genetic counseling of the reproductive risk, as well as disease prognosis, and patient management. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc
