Tricominae (Nematoda - Desmoscolecida) from the northern part of Moçambique Channel, with five new species and one new genus

Five new species of Tricominae (Desmoscolecida) from the N.E. of the Moçambique Channel are described: Antarcticonema inaequalis, Tricoma curvespiculata, T. bullapophysa, T. gloriosa and Desmotricoma spinicauda. Desmotricoma gen.n. is mainly characterized by the ornamentation of the body-cuticle i.e. provided with prominent protruding concretion masses around long spines and dispersed over the whole body in a more or less regular way

Three new draconematid species from Papua New Guinea

Three new draconematid species: Prochaetosoma martensi sp. n., Paradraconema maggentii sp. n. and Tenuidraconema fiersi gen. n., sp. n. are described. The new genus Tenuidraconema belongs to the subfamily Prochaetosomatinae but shows also affinities with the Draconematinae, the other subfarnily of the Draconematidae. Some reflections are made on the phylogeny of the Draconematidae

Two new species are described: Desmolorenzenia cooleni sp. nov. characterized by the very small body length and by the head shape, with the extreme anterior border provided with six fine labial setaePrototricoma dherdei sp. nov. characterized by its habit, the head shape, anteriorly tapered to a narrow truncated end and by the shape of the spicules in males. The genusPrototricoma is discussed. A redescription is given of the type species Prototricoma longicauda

On the deep-sea desmoscolecid fauna of the flat of Cap Vert (Nematoda: Desmoscolecida)

The deep-sea bottom samples from the flat of Cap Vert, tropical Atlantic Ocean, collected during the EUMELI cruises, contain eight demoscolecid species, six of them belong to the subgenus Quadricoma. The dominant species Tricoma (Quadricoma) maxima is rediscribed including SEM information on the head region. A new species Tricoma (Quadricoma) magnafenestra sp. nov. is characterised by a relative long body with 44 main rings, an end ring with large pores or phasmata and spike-like spinneret, a broad head with truncated anterior end with labial rim, males with 55µm long spicules. Additional information is given on T. (Q.) loricata. The taxonomic status of T. (Q.) media is discussed; the species is considered as a species inquirenda

Five new species of deep-sea desmoscolecids (Nematoda - Desmoscolecida) from the Bay of Biscay

The present paper deals with a study of desmoscolecids found in deep-sea samples from the Bay of Gascony. Five new species are described: Desmoscolex multiannulatus, D. paralongistosus, D. segonzaci, D. macrophasmatus and Quadricoma gascognensis. Desmolorenzenia longicauda (Timm, 1970) Freudenhammer, 1975 is synonymous with D. eurycricus (Filipjev, 1922) Freudenhammer, 1975 and Quadricoma iberica Freudenhammer, 1975 is synonymous with Q. brevichaeta Freudenhammer, 1975

Draconematidae and Epsilonematidae (Nematoda) from Laing Island Papua New Guinea, with one new Genus and three new species

Two new Epsilonema-species are described: E. parvospina sp.nov., characterized by the ornamentation of the body cuticle and the single ventral row of 3 to 5 copulatory thorns in male and E. longispicula sp.nov., characterized by the ornamentation of the cuticular body rings, long spicus and two single ventral rows of copulatory thorns in male. A new genus Triepsilonema with a new species T. tripapillata gen. n., sp.n. is described. Triepsilonema is mainly characterized by the six rows of ambulatory setae and the separate outlet for each of the three caudal glands. New information is given on Apenodraconema spinicaudum (Gerlach, 1958) Allen & Noffsinger, 1978 and Paradraconema floridense Allen & Noffsinger, 1978

Scientific report on the Belgian Expedition to the Great Barrier Reef in 1967. Nematodes I: <i>Desmoscolex</i>-species (Nematoda-Desmoscolecida) from Yonge Reef, Lizard Island and Nymphe Island with general characteristics of the genus <i>Desmoscolex</i>

Hundred and thirteen specimens of Desmoscolex, belonging to fourteen species, were found in samples from Yonge Reef, Nymphe Island and Lizard Island (Great Barrier Reef, Australia). Among them D . granulatus n . sp., D . laevis Kreis, 1926 and D . minutus Claparede, 1863 are described. A new name, D. paralaevis n. sp. is proposed for the specimens described as D . laevis by Lorenzen (1971) . The diagnosis of the genus is emended by considering the internal structures such as the oesophagus and oesophago-intestinal junction

Desmoscolecids from sublittoral fine-sand of Pierre Noire (West Channel) (Nematoda, Desmoscolecida)

The present paper deals with a study of desmoscolecids inhabiting the sublittoral fine-sand of Pierre Noire, Bay of Morlaix (France). Two new species are described: Haptotricoma boucheri sp. nov. characterized by 218-227 body rings, each ring provided with a ring of scales and by two large glandular setae dorsally and ventrally on the right body side and three glandular setae dorsally and ventrally on the left body side; Desmoscolex roscoffiensis sp. nov. is distinguished from all known species by the shape of the cephalic setae: fine, long, bearing a flaglike membrane and by its setal pattern, lacking subventral setae on main ring 15. A redescription or additional information are presented on Tricoma islandica Kreis, 1963; T. polydesmus (Southern, 1914) Steiner, 1916; T. steineri de Man, 1922; Desmoscolex deconincki Decraemer, 1975; D. geraerti Decraemer, 1975, and D. longisetosus Timm, 1970

Taxonomic problems within the Desmoscolecida (Nematoda)

A few examples are given of variability and taxonomic difficulties within the Desmoscolecida as well at species level as at genus level. The diagnostic characters generally used within two genera: Desmoscolex Claparède, 1863 and Tricoma Cobb, 1894 and the status of the genus Quadricoma Filipjev, 1922 are discussed
