This report presents a comparison of state-of-the-art esophagography and endoscopy in the diagnosis of pathologically proven esophagitis. The modern multiphasic esophagogram is shown to have a sensitivity of 92% for the detection of opportunistic esophagitis in the immunocompromised patient.
