On Normal Subgroups of Coxeter Groups Generated by Standard Parabolic Subgroups
We discuss one construction of nonstandard subgroups in the category of
Coxeter groups.
Two formulae for the growth series of such a subgroups are given.
As an application we construct a flag simple convex polytope, whose

A Grid of Relativistic, non-LTE Accretion Disk Models for Spectral Fitting of Black Hole Binaries
Self-consistent vertical structure models together with non-LTE radiative
transfer should produce spectra from accretion disks around black holes which
differ from multitemperature blackbodies at levels which may be observed. High
resolution, high signal-to-noise observations warrant spectral modeling which
both accounts for relativistic effects, and treats the physics of radiative
transfer in detail. In Davis et al. (2005) we presented spectral models which
accounted for non-LTE effects, Compton scattering, and the opacities due to
ions of abundant metals. Using a modification of this method, we have tabulated
spectra for black hole masses typical of Galactic binaries. We make them
publicly available for spectral fitting as an Xspec model. These models
represent the most complete realization of standard accretion disk theory to
date. Thus, they are well suited for both testing the theory's applicability to
observed systems and for constraining properties of the black holes, including

Specific Heat of Disordered He
Porous aerogel is a source of elastic scattering in superfluid 3He and
modifies the properties of the superfluid, suppressing the transition
temperature and order parameter. The specific heat jumps for the B-phase of
superfluid 3He in aerogel have been measured as a function of pressure and
interpreted using the homogeneous and inhomogeneous isotropic scattering
models. The specific heat jumps for other p-wave states are estimated for

A Killing tensor for higher dimensional Kerr-AdS black holes with NUT charge
In this paper, we study the recently discovered family of higher dimensional
Kerr-AdS black holes with an extra NUT-like parameter. We show that the inverse
metric is additively separable after multiplication by a simple function. This
allows us to separate the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, showing that geodesic
motion is integrable on this background. The separation of the Hamilton-Jacobi
equation is intimately linked to the existence of an irreducible Killing
tensor, which provides an extra constant of motion. We also demonstrate that

Effects of temperature upon the collapse of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a gas with attractive interactions
We present a study of the effects of temperature upon the excitation
frequencies of a Bose-Einstein condensate formed within a dilute gas with a
weak attractive effective interaction between the atoms. We use the
self-consistent Hartree-Fock Bogoliubov treatment within the Popov
approximation and compare our results to previous zero temperature and
Hartree-Fock calculations The metastability of the condensate is monitored by
means of the excitation frequency. As the number of atoms in the
condensate is increased, with held constant, this frequency goes to zero,
signalling a phase transition to a dense collapsed state. The critical number
for collapse is found to decrease as a function of temperature, the rate of
decrease being greater than that obtained in previous Hartree-Fock

Chiral Vortons and Cosmological Constraints on Particle Physics
We investigate the cosmological consequences of particle physics theories
that admit stable loops of current-carrying string - vortons. In particular, we
consider chiral theories where a single fermion zero mode is excited in the
string core, such as those arising in supersymmetric theories with a D-term.
The resulting vortons formed in such theories are expected to be more stable
than their non-chiral cousins. General symmetry breaking schemes are considered
in which strings formed at one symmetry breaking scale become current-carrying
at a subsequent phase transition. The vorton abundance is estimated and
constraints placed on the underlying particle physics theories from
cosmological observations. Our constraints on the chiral theory are
considerably more stringent than the previous estimates for more general

How unprovable is Rabin's decidability theorem?
We study the strength of set-theoretic axioms needed to prove Rabin's theorem
on the decidability of the MSO theory of the infinite binary tree. We first
show that the complementation theorem for tree automata, which forms the
technical core of typical proofs of Rabin's theorem, is equivalent over the
moderately strong second-order arithmetic theory to a
determinacy principle implied by the positional determinacy of all parity games
and implying the determinacy of all Gale-Stewart games given by boolean
combinations of sets. It follows that complementation for
tree automata is provable from - but not -comprehension.
We then use results due to MedSalem-Tanaka, M\"ollerfeld and
Heinatsch-M\"ollerfeld to prove that over -comprehension, the
complementation theorem for tree automata, decidability of the MSO theory of
the infinite binary tree, positional determinacy of parity games and
determinacy of Gale-Stewart games are all
equivalent. Moreover, these statements are equivalent to the
-reflection principle for -comprehension. It follows in
particular that Rabin's decidability theorem is not provable in
