Radar methods for determining the thickness of dielectric layers

    Get PDF
This paper describes two methods, the amplitude method and the method based on geometric optics. The methods were applied to practical data obtained by georadar tests. As a result, the refractive index and thickness of the investigated planar layered medium were calculated. When using the amplitude method, the refractive index of the investigated medium is 1.3, the thickness is 0.11 m. When using the method based on geometric optics, the refractive index of the investigated medium is 1.43, the thickness is 0.102 m. After comparing the results of these methods, it was found that the error of the amplitude method is higher than that of the geometrical optics method

Principles and Criteria of Phytocenotic Diversity Conservation (Through the Example of European Countries and Russia)

    Get PDF
The article presents the review of currently existing views on the problem of phytocoenotic diversity protection in European countries and Russia. The principles and criteria for the identification of rare plant communities in need of protection, used by scientists from different countries are described. The authors had defined already published works of a monographic nature and projects, containing the information on the phytocenotic diversity of Europe in need of protection, and Green Books, published in the Russian Federation. Special attention is paid to the determination process of plant communities. It is noted that nowadays there is no single concept for the creation of Green Books. The phytocenosis protection inventories created in European countries that have a legislative basis, the Russian Green Books include vegetation monitoring data and have no legal basis

The gas solubility problem in transformer oil

It is generally recognized that the assessment of the technical state of power transformers based on the analysis of gases dissolved in oil (DGA) is an analytical diagnostic method with a wide range of detectable defects. DGA in Russia is actively used for more than 30 years. Foreign and domestic standards, as a rule, offer several methods for identifying transformer defects based on the results of DGA, since they have different accuracy in detecting defects of different types. Until now, new methods are being studied, seeking to improve recognition of a defect. This article is devoted to the analysis of the accuracy of finding the shortcomings of the most known and suitable methods.

This article will reduce the proportion of errors in interpreting the results DGA from gas relay and improve the accuracy of the characteristics of the detected defect on the DGA. And also to clarify the permissible values of the gas concentrations of GR and identify the most successful correlations.

For optical holographic recording by photothermoplastic technique reversible holographic media based on oligomers with hole type of conductivity are used. New carbazole containing radial tetrasubstituted silanes and germanes are described in the present work

Observation of a narrow baryon resonance with positive strangeness formed in K+K^+Xe collisions

    Get PDF
The charge-exchange reaction K^+ Xe --> K^0 p Xe' is investigated using the data of the DIANA experiment. The distribution of the pK^0 effective mass shows a prominent enhancement near 1538 MeV formed by \sim 80 events above the background, whose width is consistent with being entirely due to the experimental resolution. Under the selections based on a simulation of K^+Xe collisions, the statistical significance of the signal reaches 5.5\sigma. We interpret this observation as strong evidence for formation of a pentaquark baryon with positive strangeness, \Theta^+(uudd\bar{s}), in the charge-exchange reaction K^+ n --> K^0 p on a bound neutron. The mass of the \Theta^+ baryon is measured as m(\Theta^+) = 1538+-2 MeV. Using the ratio between the numbers of resonant and non-resonant charge-exchange events in the peak region, the intrinsic width of this baryon resonance is determined as \Gamma(\Theta^+) = 0.34+-0.10 MeV.Comment: 19 pages, 8 figure

Thin film of composites based on N-epoxypropylcarbazole and n-butylglycidyl ether co-oligomer (GCBE) sensitized by various concentrations of cationic polymethine dyes with different polymethine chain length have been prepared. Their photophysical, electrical, and spectral properties have been investigated. All studied composite films have been shown to exhibited photoconductivity effect. In film composites with high concentration of the dye photovoltaic effect have been detected. The diffusion nature of this effect and its features correlation with electronic properties of PCFs components has been established
