Remarks on the type faxo/faxim
Il saggio analizza la struttura morfologica del tipo arcaico faxo/faxim; tale struttura viene inquadrata sulla base dell'evoluzione della morfologia verbale latina tra categorie Indo-europee e categorie del latino romano, e viene giustificata sulla base della consistenza testuale dei testi, prevalentemente prescrittivi, che compongono il corpus pi\uf9 antico delle attestazion
Latin 1st class -\u101- verbs as thematic formations: On the deficiency of IE roots
This study deals with the status of the morphological element -\u101 which marks 1st conjugation verbs in Latin. Adopting a Distributed Morphology framework, I focus on de-nominal/de-adjectival verbs and more generally on derivative ones, beside that on 'primary' -\u101 verbs which are the direct outcome of a PIE root. I demonstrate that -\u101 arises from the nominal domain, and that it is basically associated to agentive Voice. It covers the function of a thematic vowel in order to repair a marked matrix of features, due to the roots which lack an overt verbal character
"Intensive" verbal prefixes in Archaic Latin
The goal of this paper is to give a brief outline of the synchronic conditions which
trigger the emergence of aspectual values in Latin verbal prefixes. In particular, I will show
that such a possibility is not the result of bare semantic effects, lexicalization of idioms
or compounding strategies; rather, aspectual preverbation crucially has to do with syntactic
factors, namely the argument structure of the verb, the prepositional character
of the prefixes, and the interactions between those components

High transitivity nasal presents between lexical etymology and morphology
Il saggio analizza la diffusione di verbi con presenti in nasale e significato di riduzione e di contatto in alcune lingue indoeuropee antiche, mostrando che l'associazione tra tali verbi e la morfologia in nasale non \ue8 ereditaria, ma dipende dall'evoluzione verso la transitivit\ue0 dei morfemi nasali
Presenti in nasale indeuropei tra fonologia e morfologia
This study aims at focusing on some morpho-phonological problems which affect nasal presents in Indo-European languages. My proposal does not want to be exhaustive, as the theme offers several difficulties in any perspective one can treat it. In detail, I deal with some asymmetries between IE *-nos formations in the nominal domain, and the verb stems built through nasal morphology, and I argue for an etymological relation between them. KEYWORDS: Indo-European, verbal morphology, nasal infixes, word-formation, reconstructionThis study aims at focusing on some morpho-phonological problems which affect nasal presents in Indo-European languages. HabĂč e habiĂč nei volgari veneti antichi: riflessioni su un caso di sovrabbondanza
This paper aims at analysing a case of âpolymorphismâ in Ancient Venetan dialects, that is the free alternation of (h)abĂč and (h)abiĂč in the perfect participle of âto haveâ attested in XIII-XIV texts of Venice, Padua and Verona. I will treat this alternation as an instance of âoverabundanceâ in order to show that it and similar cases largely attested in Venetan varieties do not represent âcanonicalâ irregularity; on the contrary, they are coherent with diachronic trends and well attested comparatively

Sea urchin chronicles. The effect of oxygen super-saturation and marine polluted sediments from Bagnoli-Coroglio Bay on different life stages of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus
In marinas and harbours, the accumulation of pollutants in sediments, combined with poor exchange of water with the open sea, poses a major environmental threat. The presence of photosynthetic organisms and the related oxygen production, however, may alleviate the negative effects of environmental contamination on heterotrophic organisms, enhancing their physiological defences. Furthermore, possible transgenerational buffer effects may increase the ability of natural populations to face environmental stress. Here we tested the occurrence of transgenerational effects on larvae of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus, whose parents were exposed, during the gametogenesis, to contaminated sediments subject to two temporal patterns of water re-suspension events and normal- (90%) vs. super-saturated (200%) levels of O2. The study site was Bagnoli-Coroglio (Gulf of Naples, southern Tyrrhenian Sea), a historically polluted brownfield and Site of National Interest for which environmental restoration options are currently under exploration. Larvae from different adult populations were significantly, although not linearly, affected by the interaction of all factors to which parents were exposed, at both 24h and 48h post fertilization. Specifically, the exposure of larvae to elutriates from contaminated sediments determined a developmental delay, a reduction in size and an increased percentage of abnormalities in all larval populations independently of their parental exposure. On the contrary, larvae from parents exposed to contaminated sediments, when reared in clean filtered sea water, succeeded in developing until the echinopluteus stage after 48h, with size and abundance comparable to those of larvae from control parents. Pre-exposure of parents to contaminated sediments did not successfully buffer the negative effects of elutriates on their offspring, and no positive effects of âsuper-saturatedâ levels of O2 in response to contaminants were observed, suggesting that the Bagnoli-Coroglio area is currently not suitable for the re-stocking or re-introduction of this species
Nasal Presents
Persentazione sintetica della categoria morfologica dei presenti in nasale in greco antico. La voce descrive le tipologie di presente in nasale pi\uf9 diffuse; presenta lo stato dell'arte per quanto riguarda gli inquadramenti che a esse sono stati dati nella linguistica indo-europea; ne offre una classificazione sulla base delle propriet\ue0 semantiche
