Employability Development Through Extracurricular Activities: a case study of AIESEC membership

    Get PDF
Objectives The main objectives of the research are (1) to analyze the factors that contribute to the development of employability and (2) to analyze how AIESEC membership contributes to the development of its members’ employability. Summary This research focuses on exploring the experience of AIESEC members during their membership and their self-perceived employability. Interviews with 12 members (alumni and current members) from 4 countries were conducted. Eight themes of employability developments are discovered through Gioia methodology, and the potential relations between these themes and specific features of AIESEC membership program are illustrated through a table. Along with other findings, a new model, based on the conceptual framework, depicting employability development through extracurricular activities engagement is established. Conclusions Employability development from extracurricular activities is considered relevant and suitable for acquiring entry-level jobs. Eight employability developments through the engagement are project management, reflection and evaluation skills, solution-oriented mindset, growth mindset, data-driven decision making, team management skills, JD-specific skills and general communication. To enable the facilitation of these developments, the following aspects of an organization play an important role: organizational culture, organization structure, membership experience management, and Talent Management function

FACTORS AFFECTING MOTIVATION OF ENGLISH-MAJORED STUDENTS TOWARDS LEARNING ENGLISH AT A UNIVERSITY IN THE MEKONG DELTA, VIETNAM

    Get PDF
It could be broadly accepted that motivation plays its fundamental role as one of the most important elements in foreign language learning. The present research investigated factors affecting motivation in learning English of freshmen at Tay Do University. The participants were 84 freshmen studying in Faculty of Linguistics and Literature. In the study process, these participants were given questionnaires which consisted of several statements related to the mentioned factors and the interview to get information. The collected data from the two instruments mentioned above were all analyzed afterward. The current study showed that there were elements that motivate freshmen towards English learning. Parental, environmental, teacher’s and intrinsic (personal) factors were examined. It is hoped that this research can be helpful for not only students but also teachers in learning and teaching English. Article visualizations

Optimization of Main Factors Affecting Construction Waste by the Supply Chain Management

    Get PDF
A survey report of the Vietnam Urban Environment and Industrial Zone Association reveals that every day in 2009, about 1,000 tons of construction waste were generated in Hanoi and 2,000 tons Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. It is forecasted that the coming years would see a vigorously growing amount of construction waste as a result of the plan to dismantle and renovate old apartment buildings in major cities. So, in this research we developed a supply chain management strategy for the waste controlling in the construction industry. While the bulky volume of construction wastes poses a great environmental threat to urban areas, response to it remains meager. Hence, this paper presents four primary factors affecting the management of construction wastes in Vietnam using fuzzy logic

Enriching Biomedical Knowledge for Vietnamese Low-resource Language Through Large-Scale Translation

Biomedical data and benchmarks are highly valuable yet very limited in low-resource languages other than English such as Vietnamese. In this paper, we make use of a state-of-the-art translation model in English-Vietnamese to translate and produce both pretrained as well as supervised data in the biomedical domains. Thanks to such large-scale translation, we introduce ViPubmedT5, a pretrained Encoder-Decoder Transformer model trained on 20 million translated abstracts from the high-quality public PubMed corpus. ViPubMedT5 demonstrates state-of-the-art results on two different biomedical benchmarks in summarization and acronym disambiguation. Further, we release ViMedNLI - a new NLP task in Vietnamese translated from MedNLI using the recently public En-vi translation model and carefully refined by human experts, with evaluations of existing methods against ViPubmedT5

Measuring Supply Chain Smart Village Headman Performance

    Get PDF
The supply chain management as the general tool can be used for supporting and delivering the goods to the villages. The village head is the leader of the village government. The tenure of the village head is 6 years, and can be extended for another one term is expected to run the government with a good performance in providing services to the community. So with the proper use of the supply chain the needs of the villages can be provide by the government. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method can help decision making in determining the performance index of the village head. This research is conduct by looking for the performance of positive and negative ideal solutions. Applications with the highest V value will occupy the top size in this system. Then the criteria in determining the performance index of the head of the village are: timeliness, discipline, responsibility, leadership, presence, value. The results of the decision-making system resulted in 6 alternative suggested performance indexes of village heads, with the highest score of Sending Agung Village

Measuring Supply Chain Performance through Migrant Workers Placement

    Get PDF
To facilitate existing procedures and improve decision making, a decision support system (SPK) needs to be built. This SPK aimed  to determine the placement of workers abroad using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method and supply chain process. This method was chosen because it is  able to select the best alternative from a number of alternatives, in this case the alternative in question was  someone who was entitled to receive Placement based on predetermined criteria. This research was conducted by looking for weight values for each individual. The Decision Support System produced was  capable of ranking prospective Indonesian migrant workers and  making it easier for BP3TKI to make decisions about Indonesian migrant workers by supply chain resource management for who will depart abroad

Best Quality Tomato Selection by Supply Chain Strategy for Renewable Energy

    Get PDF
World agriculture still faces challenges quite fundamental, it is about the quality issues and the increasing of competitiveness through productivity and the eficiency. This research focused on the criteria of best tomato types and how to apply the Simple Additive weighting method (SAW) into a Decision Support System (DSS) for election best quality tomato that can assist farmers in determining the best type of tomato for renewable energy and supply chain strategy, based on the criteria that have been chosen, such as: tomato size, tomato color, tomato shape and tomato disease. By using the application of Simple Additive weighting method into Decision Support Systems value, it can be concluded that V5 is the best quality tomato and has a predicate value of 83.75 with the fragile values, as follows: 50-69 = Enough, 70-82 = Good, 83-100 = Best

Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration from leaf callus with genetic stability validation using SCoT markers in Paramignya trimera, a medicinal plant native to Vietnam

    Get PDF
Xao tam phan (Paramignya trimera (Oliv.) Guillaum) is a medicinal plant native to Vietnam, that is renowned for its therapeutic properties, particularly for the treatment of various ailments, including cancer. This study investigated in vitro propagation of P. trimera through somatic embryogenesis and shoot organogenesis using leaf callus. Various culture media, plant growth regulators, malt extract, and carbon sources were evaluated to optimize callus induction and somatic embryo formation from leaf explants. DNA barcoding confirmed 96.96% to 100% homology with P. trimera specimens from Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam. The highest callus formation rate, reaching 100%, was observed in one-year-old explants cultured in Woody Plant Medium (WPM) supplemented with 2.0 mg L-1 naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 0.2 mg L-1 benzylaminopurine (BAP) in the dark for over six weeks. In WPM supplemented with 30 g L-1 sucrose, 4.0 mg L-1 BAP, and 500 mg L-1 malt extract, globular stage embryos developed into embryoids and shoots and buds clumped at 10 and 18 weeks, respectively. Shoot organogenesis was observed in WPM supplemented with 30 g L-1 sucrose and 0.07 mg L-1 thidiazuron (TDZ) after 18 weeks of culture. Genetic fidelity assessments using 12 SCoT markers indicated that in vitro plantlets were homologous to the mother plant. This study provides a viable method for the conservation and sustainable cultivation of Xao tam phan, ensuring a stable supply of this valuable medicinal resource
