The aim of this study was studying the effect of acute creatine supplementation on physiological variables of continuous and intermittent soccer activities of men soccer players. 32 soccer players from Tarbiat Moalem University aged (22/3+-1/6) volunteered for this research and were divided into two groups randomly. Both experimental and control groups after 6 days taking supplementation were tested. For measuring height and weight meter and balance were used. Questionnaire for health background, lactate electro, heart beat measuring polar electro, continuous and intermittent training program and time recorder were used for data collection. For data analysis descriptive statistical techniques, two-way ANOVA and F test were used. The result of this study showed increased significantly in heart rate in control group. For control group heart beat was (71/6 +- 3/5) and for experimental group it was (75/3 +- 4/9). No significant differences were observed in players weight after taking creatine

Background: Tai Chi is Chinese martial art strengthening the performance of individuals. Objectives: The purpose of present study is to determine the effect of a Tai Chi exercise period on static and dynamic balance of young girls. Methods: For the purpose of this research, 32 young girls were voluntarily selected and randomly divided into two groups: Tai Chi training group (21 subjects; mean ± SD; age 22.05±2.4 weight 53.67±6.3 kg, height 1.60±0.5 m) and control group (11 subjects; mean ± SD; age 23.37±0.9 weight 53.64±7.8 kg, height 1.62±0.4 m) players. Static and dynamic balance were measured using Biodex Balance System SD three days before and after a 12-session training period with similar conditions in terms of time and place (75 minutes each session). Results: Mixed repeated measure test showed a significant difference between pre and post-tests in open eye single-foot, closed eye single-foot, open eye two-foot, and closed eye two-foot stances (p=0.001). However, no significant difference was revealed in the control group (p0.05). While there was better balance state in all stances of Tai Chi group, no significant difference was observed between the groups in this respect (p0.05). Conclusions: The findings of this research indicated the effectiveness of Tai Chi exercises on static and dynamic balance of young girls. Although there was no significant difference in effect of exercise between training and control groups, mean percentage of changes in training group revealed the effectiveness of exercise in training group compared to control. Therefore, Tai Chi exercises can be recommended to treat and prevent injury due to poor balance. We suggested performing Tai Chi more than 12 session in order to enhance it influences

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) exercises with mental imagery and working memory and combining these two types of exercises on dynamic balance, range of motion, and spasticity of Multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Method and Materials: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 male MS patients were randomly assigned into three groups (n=10) of PNF, mental imagery and working memory training, and combination. The study included pre-test, intervention, and post-test. Timed Up and Go test, range of motion, and rate of muscles spasticity in active and passive extension of knee were measure in pre-test, and post-test. Intervention consisted of 6 weeks of exercise in each group. Data were analyzed using Paired Samples t-test, ANCOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Results: The results showed that each of mental imagery and working memory training, and combination had a significant effect on dynamic balance (P<0.01), range of motion of passive and active knee extension (P<0.01) and spasticity of passive and active knee extension (P<0.01) in MS patients. No significant differences were found between training groups in any of the variables (P>0.05). Conclusion: Overall, the results of the present study showed that PNF, mental imagery, working memory, and combined training can be used to improve balance, range of motion, and spasticity of MS patients

An enormous Italian pedigree of Marfan syndrome with a novel mutation in the FBN1 gene

We characterize a large Italian family presenting with Marfan syndrome (MFS), where the same :c.6872-1G > T splice site mutation in the FBN1 gene was detected in 37 affected individuals with different pathological phenotypes. Further studies on such a large pedigree could identify other genetic factors that influence MFS manifestation

With appearing modern architecture and destroying construction identity, patternology is one of the important issues that wants to find the practical methods for accessing to identity maker elements and patterns of past and using of them in now a day modern architecture. Traditional residential texture as the fundamental core of cities and so elements and architecture construction in them undoubtedly are worthy heritage for studying and analyzing and presenting proper patterns of native architecture.  In this study first with an analyzing- descriptive approach have an overview and then the skeletal factors affecting texture and traditional residential constructions of Mazandaran province patternology are identified. Study method in this method is analyzing-descriptive and used of fieldwork for fundamental recognition and identifying for sample structures that are under studying. Finally, due to the obtained results, principles of native architecture and comparison of available criteria, native house designing patterns will present.Las condiciones climáticas juegan un papel clave en la formación de casas residenciales en la costa del Caspio porque utilizan energía natural y condiciones ambientales para la calefacción, refrigeración y aire acondicionado. Fiber element-based nonlinear analysis of concrete bridge piers with consideration of permanent displacement

    Get PDF
Utilization of fiber beam-column element has gained considerable attention in recent years due mainly to its ability to model distributed plasticity over the length of the element through a number of integration points. However, the relatively high sensitivity of the method to modeling parameters as well as material behavior models can pose a significant challenge. Residual drift is one of the seismic demands which is highly sensitive to modeling parameters and material behavior models. Permanent deformations play a prominent role in the post-earthquake evaluation of serviceability of bridges affected by a near- fault ground shaking. In this research, the influence of distributed plasticity modeling parameters using both force-based and displacement-based fiber elements in the prediction of internal forces obtained from the nonlinear static analysis is studied. Having chosen suitable type and size of elements and number of integration points, the authors take the next step by investigating the influence of material behavioral model employed for the prediction of permanent deformations in the nonlinear dynamic analysis. The result shows that the choice of element type and size, number of integration points, modification of cyclic concrete behavior model and reloading strain of concrete significantly influence the fidelity of fiber element method for the prediction of permanent deformations
