Poly[diaquaÂ(μ5-pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylÂato)strontium]
In the structure of the title compound, [Sr(C7H3NO4)(H2O)2]n, the SrII cation is eight-coordinated in form of a distorted dodecaÂhedron by two water O atoms and by five O atoms and one N atom from five pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylÂate anions. The bridging mode of the anions leads to the formation of a layered network parallel to (100). O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the coordinating water molÂecules and the carboxylÂate groups of adjacent layers consolidates the crystal packing. Weak C—H⋯O interÂactions are also observed
Nuclear geometry effect and transport coefficient in semi-inclusive lepton-production of hadrons off nuclei
Hadron production in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of leptons from
nuclei is an ideal tool to determine and constrain the transport coefficient in
cold nuclear matter. The leading-order computations for hadron multiplicity
ratios are performed by means of the SW quenching weights and the analytic
parameterizations of quenching weights based on BDMPS formalism. The
theoretical results are compared to the HERMES positively charged pions
production data with the quarks hadronization occurring outside the nucleus.
With considering the nuclear geometry effect on hadron production, our
predictions are in good agreement with the experimental measurements. The
extracted transport parameter from the global fit is shown to be for the SW quenching weight without the finite energy
corrections. As for the analytic parameterization of BDMPS quenching weight
without the quark energy E dependence, the computed transport coefficient is
. It is found that the nuclear geometry effect
has a significant impact on the transport coefficient in cold nuclear matter.
It is necessary to consider the detailed nuclear geometry in studying the
semi-inclusive hadron production in deep inelastic scattering on nuclear
targets.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with

Poly[[(methanol)(μ4-2,4,5,6-tetraÂfluoroÂbenzene-1,3-dicarboxylÂato)copper(II)] methanol monosolvate]
In the title compound, {[Cu(C8F4O4)(CH3OH)]·CH3OH}n, two CuII atoms are bridged by four carboxylÂate groups, forming the well known paddle-wheel secondary building unit (SBU) with axial methanol ligands. In each ligand, the dihedral angles between the benzene ring and the two carboxylÂate groups are 80.43 (17) and 62.5 (4)°. Within each SBU, the four carboxylÂate groups come from four symmetry-equivalent tetraÂfluoroÂisophthalate ligands. Each tetraÂfluoroÂisophthalate group connects two SBUs, forming a layered structure . In the crystal, O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the free and ligated methanol molÂecules link the molÂecules into a three-dimensional supraÂmolecular network
An Experimental Proposal to Test Dynamic Quantum Non-locality with Single-Atom Interferometry
Quantum non-locality based on the well-known Bell inequality is of kinematic
nature. A different type of quantum non-locality, the non-locality of the
quantum equation of motion, is recently put forward with connection to the
Aharonov-Bohm effect [Nature Phys. 6, 151 (2010)]. Evolution of the
displacement operator provides an example to manifest such dynamic quantum
non-locality. We propose an experiment using single-atom interferometry to test
such dynamic quantum non-locality. We show how to measure evolution of the
displacement operator with clod atoms in a spin-dependent optical lattice
potential and discuss signature to identify dynamic quantum non-locality under
a realistic experimental setting.Comment: 4 page
Curcumin inhibits cholesterol uptake in Caco-2 cells by down-regulation of NPC1L1 expression

Abstract

Background

Curcumin is a polyphenol and the one of the principle curcuminoids of the spice turmeric. Its antioxidant, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects have been intensively studied. Previous in vivo studies showed that administration of curcumin also decreased cholesterol levels in the blood, and the effects were considered to be related to upregulation of LDL receptor. However, since plasma cholesterol levels are also influenced by the uptake of cholesterol in the gut, which is mediated by a specific transporter Niemann-Pick Cl-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein, the present study is to investigate whether curcumin affects cholesterol uptake in the intestinal Caco-2 cells.

Methods

Caco-2 cells were cultured to confluence. The micelles composed of bile salt, monoolein, and 14C-cholesterol were prepared. We first incubated the cells with the micelles in the presence and absence of ezetimibe, the specific inhibitor of NPC1L1, to see whether the uptake of the cholesterol in the cells was mediated by NPC1L1. We then pretreated the cells with curcumin at different concentrations for 24 h followed by examination of the changes of cholesterol uptake in these curcumin-treated cells. Finally we determined whether curcumin affects the expression of NPC1L1 by both Western blot analysis and qPCR quantification.

Results

We found that the uptake of radioactive cholesterol in Caco-2 cells was inhibited by ezetimibe in a dose-dependent manner. The results indicate that the uptake of cholesterol in this study was mediated by NPC1L1. We then pretreated the cells with 25-100 μM curcumin for 24 h and found that such a treatment dose-dependently inhibited cholesterol uptake with 40% inhibition obtained by 100 μM curcumin. In addition, we found that the curcumin-induced inhibition of cholesterol uptake was associated with significant decrease in the levels of NPC1L1 protein and NPC1L1 mRNA, as analyzed by Western blot and qPCR, respectively.

Conclusion

Curcumin inhibits cholesterol uptake through suppression of NPC1L1 expression in the intestinal cells.</p
Square Root Cubature Kalman Filter-Kalman Filter Algorithm for Intelligent Vehicle Position Estimate
AbstractA new filtering algorithm, adaptive square root cubature Kalman filter-Kalman filter (SRCKF-KF) is proposed to reduce the problems of amount of calculation, complex formula-transform, low accuracy, poor convergence or even divergence. The method uses cubature Kalman filter (CKF) to estimate the nonlinear states of model while its linear states are estimated by the Kalman filter (KF). The simulation and practical experiment results show that, compared to the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and unscented Kalman filter (UKF). The modified filter not only enhances the numerical stability, guarantees positive definiteness of the state covariance, but also increases accuracy, which has high practicability
