    Partial Product Updates for Agents of Detectable Failure and Logical Obstruction to Task Solvability

    The logical method proposed by Goubault, Ledent, and Rajsbaum provides a novel way to show the unsolvability of distributed tasks by means of a logical obstruction, which is an epistemic logic formula describing the reason of unsolvability. In this paper, we introduce the notion of partial product update, which refines that of product update in the original logical method, to encompass distributed tasks and protocols modeled by impure simplicial complexes. With this extended notion of partial product update, the original logical method is generalized so that it allows the application of logical obstruction to show unsolvability results in a distributed environment where the failure of agents is detectable. We demonstrate the use of the logical method by giving a concrete logical obstruction and showing that the consensus task is unsolvable by the single-round synchronous message-passing protocol

    Feasibility of Controlling Gas Concentration and Temperature Distributions in a Semiconductor Chamber with CT-TDLAS

    The feasibility to control the gas concentration and temperature distributions in a semiconductor process chamber by measuring them was investigated. Gas concentration and temperature distributions for various flow rates were measured with the computed tomography-tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (CT-TDLAS). The infrared absorption spectra of multiple laser paths passing through the measured area were collected and the distributions of methane concentration and temperature in the chamber were reconstructed with the computed tomography (CT) calculations. The measured results indicated that the distributions can be independently controlled by measuring with the CT-TDLAS and adjusting the flow rates and the susceptor temperature

    Ambegaokar-Baratoff relations of Josephson critical current in heterojunctions with multi-gap superconductors

    An extension of the Ambegaokar-Baratoff relation to a superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) Josephson junction with multiple tunneling channels is derived. Appling the resultant relation to a SIS Josephson junction formed by an iron-based (five-band) and a single-band Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) type superconductors, a theoretical bound of the Josephson critical current (IcI_{\rm c}) multiplied by the resistance of the junction (RnR_{\rm n}) is given. We reveal that such a bound is useful for identifying the pairing symmetry of iron-pnictide superconductors. One finds that if a measured value of IcRnI_{\rm c}R_{\rm n} is smaller than the bound then the symmetry is ±s\pm s-wave, and otherwise ss-wave without any sign changes. In addition, we stress that temperature dependence of IcRnI_{\rm c}R_{\rm n} is sensitive to the difference of the gap functions from the BCS type gap formula in the above heterojunction.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

    功利主義思想は,18 世紀後半にイギリスの思想家ベンサムの手によって本格的に誕生し,J.S. ミルによる修正を経て,19 世紀後半にヘンリー・シジウィックによって古典的功利主義として完成されるにいたった.本稿では,主としてJ.S. ミルとシジウィックという二人の古典的功利主義者を対象としながら,19 世紀のイギリスを舞台とした功利主義の形成過程と経済社会における規範として「最大多数の最大幸福」ないしは「一般幸福」を掲げることの意義とを検討する.ベンサム,J.S. ミル,シジウィックは,一括りに古典的功利主義と見なされる場合もあるが,彼らの思想は極めて重要な点で異なっている.とくにJ.S. ミルとシジウィックを対比させることで,功利主義の多面性やその特徴が浮かび上がってくるのである.Utilitarian idea was given its birth by Jeremy Bentham, the famous British philosopher, revised by J. S. Mill, and finalized by Henry Sidgwick as classical utilitarianism in the late nineteenth century. In this paper, while confining our attention towards to two classical utilitarians, J. S. Mill and Sidgwick, we shall explore the formation of utilitarianism in Britain through the nineteenth century and the significance of setting up “the greatest happiness of the greatest numbers” or “general happiness” as the ideal of economic societies. However Bentham, J. S. Mill and Sidgwick have often been lumped together as classical utilitarianism, there are crucial differences among their ideas. Especially by comparing J. S.     ラット膀胱での水吸収におけるアクアポリン-2の役割

    AIM: We investigated the role of the bladder wall in permeating water, focusing on aquaporins. METHODS: Female Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 300 g were used to investigate the role of the bladder wall in saline permeation. Changes in intravesical fluid volume and sodium concentration were measured in the desmopressin acetate hydrate-loaded and control groups 3 h after administration. Bladders were resected to measure aquaporin-1, 2, and 3 gene expression using qRT-PCR. Additionally, the change of aquaporin-2 expression was measured using Western blotting and immunohistochemistry in intravesical aquaporin-2 siRNA-treated and control groups. RESULTS: Although the intravesical fluid volume and sodium concentration significantly decreased from 0 to 3 h (1.00 ± 0.00 vs 0.83 ± 0.08 mL, 157.80 ± 1.30 vs 146.8 ± 1.92 mEq/mL, P < 0.01, respectively in the control group), administration of desmopressin did not affect the extent of volume change. Aquaporin-2 expression was significantly higher in the 3-h distended bladders than in the empty bladder. Aquaporin-2 siRNA treatment suppressed aquaporin-2 expression and the change of intravesical fluid volume from 0 to 3 h (1.00 ± 0.00 and 0.99 ± 0.02 mL), which was related to the suppression of sodium concentration change in comparison with control siRNA treatment (149.6 ± 2.4 vs 143.6 ± 3.67 mEq/mL, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The rat urinary bladder absorbs water and salts under the full-filled condition. Aquaporin-2 plays an important role in the transport of water, accompanied by sodium concentration change.
