    Composite Fermions with Spin Freedom

General rule for the composite fermion transformation, when the spins of the electrons are not polarized is derived. Condition for the quantum phase transition between various spin states is obtained based on the rule. This rule gives foundation for the experimental determination of the mass and gg-factor of the composite fermion.Comment: 5 pages with 1 ps figure, Revtex, to be published in J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. Inter-layer Edge Tunneling and Transport Properties in Double-Layer Quantum Hall Systems

A theory of transport in the quantum Hall regime is developed for separately contacted double-layer electron systems. Inter-layer tunneling provides a channel for equilibration of the distribution functions in the two layers and influences transport properties through the resulting influence on steady-state distribution functions. Resistences for various configurations of the electrodes are calculated as a function of the inter-layer tunneling amplitude. The effect of misalignment of the edges of the two layers and the effect of tilting the magnetic field away from the normal to the layers on the inter- layer tunneling amplitude near the sample edges are investigated. The results obtained in this work is consistent with recent experiments.Comment: 4 pages, uses sprocl.sty, one PS figures to be included by psfig. Paper to be published at Int. Edge State Transport of Separately Contacted Bilayer Systems in the Fractional Quantum Hall Regime

Hall and diagonal resistances of bilayer fractional quantum Hall systems are discussed theoretically. The bilayers have electrodes attached separately to each layer. They are assumed to be coupled weakly by interlayer tunneling, while the interlayer Coulomb interaction is negligibly small. It is shown that source-drain voltage dependence of the resistances reflects the Luttinger liquid parameter of the edge state.Comment: 3 pages with 2 eps figure, Revtex, contributed paper to EP2DS-1
