A quasi classical approach to electron impact ionization

A quasi classical approximation to quantum mechanical scattering in the Moeller formalism is developed. While keeping the numerical advantage of a standard Classical--Trajectory--Monte--Carlo calculation, our approach is no longer restricted to use stationary initial distributions. This allows one to improve the results by using better suited initial phase space distributions than the microcanonical one and to gain insight into the collision mechanism by studying the influence of different initial distributions on the cross section. A comprehensive account of results for single, double and triple differential cross sections for atomic hydrogen will be given, in comparison with experiment and other theories.Comment: 21 pages, 10 figures, submitted to J Phys

Marketing as a means to transformative social conflict resolution: lessons from transitioning war economies and the Colombian coffee marketing system

Social conflicts are ubiquitous to the human condition and occur throughout markets, marketing processes, and marketing systems.When unchecked or unmitigated, social conflict can have devastating consequences for consumers, marketers, and societies, especially when conflict escalates to war. In this article, the authors offer a systemic analysis of the Colombian war economy, with its conflicted shadow and coping markets, to show how a growing network of fair-trade coffee actors has played a key role in transitioning the country’s war economy into a peace economy. They particularly draw attention to the sources of conflict in this market and highlight four transition mechanisms — i.e., empowerment, communication, community building and regulation — through which marketers can contribute to peacemaking and thus produce mutually beneficial outcomes for consumers and society. The article concludes with a discussion of implications for marketing theory, practice, and public policy

Personality psychology studies how psychological systems work together. Consequently, the field can act as a unifying resource for the broader discipline of psychology. Yet personality’s current fieldwide organization promotes a fragmented view of the person, seen through such compet-ing theories as the psychodynamic, trait, and humanistic. There exists an alternative—a systems framework for per-sonality—that focuses on 4 topics: identifying personality, personality’s parts, its organization, and its development.
