CP--violating Chargino Contributions to the Higgs Coupling to Photon Pairs in the Decoupling Regime of Higgs Sector

In most supersymmetric theories, charginos χ~1,2±\tilde{\chi}^\pm_{1,2} belong to the class of the lightest supersymmetric particles and the couplings of Higgs bosons to charginos are in general complex so that the CP--violating chargino contributions to the loop--induced coupling of the lightest Higgs boson to photon pairs can be sizable even in the decoupling limit of large pseudoscalar mass mAm_A with only the lightest Higgs boson kinematically accessible at future high energy colliders. We introduce a specific benchmark scenario of CP violation consistent with the electric dipole moment constraints and with a commonly accepted baryogenesis mechanism in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model. Based on the benchmark scenario of CP violation, we demonstrate that the fusion of the lightest Higgs boson in linearly polarized photon--photon collisions can allow us to confirm the existence of the CP--violating chargino contributions {\it even in the decoupling regime of the Higgs sector} for nearly degenerate SU(2) gaugino and higgsino mass parameters of about the electroweak scale.Comment: 1+13 pages, 3 eps figure

Radiative production of invisible charginos in photon photon collision

    Get PDF
If in a supersymmetric model, the lightest chargino is nearly degenerate with the lightest neutralino, the former can decay into the latter alongwith a soft pion (or a lepton-neutrino pair). Near degeneracy of the chargino and neutralino masses can cause the other decay products (the pion or the lepton) to be almost invisible. Photon-photon colliders offer a possibility of clean detection of such an event through a hard photon tag.Comment: 12 pages, 5 postscript figure

An Overview of the Basic Physical Properties of MgB2_2

The basic physical properties of MgB2_2 have been well established over the past two years of intensive research. At this point there is a general consensus about the values for the isotope shift, critical fields, most of the salient length scales, and general anisotropies. In this paper we will review the determination of these parameters and set the stage for further, more detailed discussions of specific aspects of the physics of MgB2_2.Comment: accepted to Physica C, special MgB2 iss

MSSM Higgs sector CP violation at photon colliders: Revisited

We present a comprehensive analysis on the MSSM Higgs sector CP violation at photon colliders including the chargino contributions as well as the contributions of other charged particles. The chargino loop contributions can be important for the would-be CP odd Higgs production at photon colliders. Polarization asymmetries are indispensable in determining the CP properties of neutral Higgs bosons.Comment: 24 pages, 40 figure

Suppression of Superconducting Critical Current Density by Small Flux Jumps in MgB2MgB_2 Thin Films

By doing magnetization measurements during magnetic field sweeps on thin films of the new superconductor MgB2MgB_2, it is found that in a low temperature and low field region small flux jumps are taking place. This effect strongly suppresses the central magnetization peak leading to reduced nominal superconducting critical current density at low temperatures. A borderline for this effect to occur is determined on the field-temperature (H-T) phase diagram. It is suggested that the small size of the flux jumps in films is due to the higher density of small defects and the relatively easy thermal diffusion in thin films in comparison with bulk samples.Comment: 7 figures Phys. Spin configuration of top quark pair production with large extra dimensions at photon-photon colliders

    Get PDF
Top quark pair production at photon-photon colliders is studied in low scale quantum gravity scenario. From the dependence of the cross sections on the spin configuration of the top quark and anti-quark, we introduce a new observable, top spin asymmetry. It is shown that there exists a special top spin basis where with the polarized parent electron beams the top spin asymmetry vanishes in the standard model but retains substantial values with the large extra dimension effects. We also present lower bounds of the quantum gravity scale MSM_S from total cross sections with various combinations of the laser, electron beam, and top quark pair polarizations. The measurements of the top spin state (t↑tˉ↓)(t_\uparrow\bar{t}_\downarrow) with unpolarized initial beams are shown to be most effective, enhancing by about 5% the MSM_S bounds with respect to totally unpolarized case.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures, ReVTe

Far-infrared transmission studies of c-axis oriented superconducting MgB2 thin film

We reported far-infrared transmission measurements on a c-axis oriented superconducting MgB2_{2} thin film in the frequency range of 30 ∼\sim 250 cm−1^{-1}. We found that these measurements were sensitive to values of scattering rate 1/τ1/\tau and superconducting gap 2Δ2\Delta. By fitting the experimental transmission spectra at 40 K and below, we obtained 1/τ=1/\tau = (700 ∼\sim 1000) cm−1^{-1} and 2Δ(0)≅2\Delta (0)\cong 42 cm−1^{-1}. These two quantities suggested that MgB2_{2} belong to the dirty limit.Comment: submitted at May

Enhancement of the upper critical field by nonmagnetic impurities in dirty two-gap superconductors

Quasiclassic Uzadel equations for two-band superconductors in the dirty limit with the account of both intraband and interband scattering by nonmagnetic impurities are derived for any anisotropic Fermi surface. From these equations the Ginzburg-Landau equations, and the critical temperature TcT_c are obtained. An equation for the upper critical field, which determines both the temperature dependence of Hc2(T)H_{c2}(T) and the orientational dependence of Hc2(θ)H_{c2}(\theta) as a function of the angle θ\theta between H{\bf H} and the c-axis is obtained. It is shown that the shape of the Hc2(T)H_{c2}(T) curve essentially depends on the ratio of the intraband electron diffusivities D1D_1 and D1D_1, and can be very different from the standard one-gap dirty limit theory. In particular, the value Hc2(0)H_{c2}(0) can considerably exceed 0.7TcdHc2/dTc0.7T_cdH_{c2}/dT_c, which can have important consequences for applications of MgB2MgB_2. A scaling relation is proposed which enables one to obtain the angular dependence of Hc2(θ)H_{c2}(\theta) from the equation for Hc2H_{c2} at H∥c{\bf H}\| c. It is shown that, depending on the relation between D1D_1 and D2D_2, the ratio of the upper critical field Hc2∥/Hc2⊥H_{c2}^\|/H_{c2}^\perp for H∥ab{\bf H}\| ab and H⊥ab{\bf H}\perp ab can both increase and decrease as the temperature decreases. Implications of the obtained results for MgB2MgB_2 are discussed

Patient satisfaction in shoulder arthroscopy: telemedicine versus clinic follow-up visits

    Get PDF
Background The use of telemedicine for postoperative visits is increasing, especially in rural areas. Few studies have investigated its use for arthroscopic shoulder patients. This study aims to evaluate patient satisfaction with telemedicine for postoperative clinic visits following arthroscopic shoulder procedures in a rural setting. Methods Patients were prospectively enrolled using the following exclusion criteria: 0.05). Patient satisfaction did not vary significantly based on care by the surgeon, concerns being addressed, thoroughness of visit, overall clinical assessment at a prior visit, and improvements in pain and physical function (all p>0.05). Among patients who opted out of telemedicine visits, the most common reason was a preference to meet in-person but these patients agreed that telemedicine visits are a good idea. Conclusions Regardless of type of follow-up, individuals reported similar levels of satisfaction with treatment during the visit and improvements in pain and physical function
