    A growth walk model for estimating the canonical partition function of Interacting Self Avoiding Walk

    We have explained in detail why the canonical partition function of Interacting Self Avoiding Walk (ISAW), is exactly equivalent to the configurational average of the weights associated with growth walks, such as the Interacting Growth Walk (IGW), if the average is taken over the entire genealogical tree of the walk. In this context, we have shown that it is not always possible to factor the the density of states out of the canonical partition function if the local growth rule is temperature-dependent. We have presented Monte Carlo results for IGWs on a diamond lattice in order to demonstrate that the actual set of IGW configurations available for study is temperature-dependent even though the weighted averages lead to the expected thermodynamic behavior of Interacting Self Avoiding Walk (ISAW).Comment: Revised version consisting of 12 pages (RevTeX manuscript, plus three .eps figure files); A few sentences in the second paragraph on Page 4 are rewritten so as to make the definition of the genealogical tree, ZN{\cal Z}_N, clearer.     Background: The proximal tibial fractures are one of the commonest intra articular fractures majority are of high energy fractures. We did the study to measure the outcome of locking compression plating by minimally invasive percutaeneous plate osteosynthesis technique in proximal tibial fractures.Methods: Study comprises 20 cases of proximal tibial fractures, which have been managed by MIPPO technique during the period December 2014 to August 2016.Results: The sex distribution in our study was 18 males and 2 females with 30 to 57 years age. The most common mode of injury in this study was road traffic accident. Type V Schatzker tibial plateau fractures were the commonest in 8 patients. 70% of our patients had excellent and good results in the functional outcome. In our study the average functional knee score was 22.40. The average range of movement achieved was 120 degrees. The average time taken for fracture healing was 16.52 weeks. In conclusion, MIPPO technique gives good to excellent results even in high energy tibial condyle fractures (70% cases in our study). Those who were treated with early fixation and early mobilization were found to have a better functional outcome irrespective of the fracture type. No secondary bone grafting was required.Conclusions: The study reports that MIPPO technique is an effective method of treating proximal tibial fractures due to its overall good functional outcome.

    Was the Cosmic Web of Protogalactic Material Permeated by Lobes of Radio Galaxies During the Quasar Era?

    Evidence for extended active lifetimes (> 10^8 yr) for radio galaxies implies that many large radio lobes were produced during the `quasar era', 1.5 < z < 3, when the comoving density of radio sources was 2 -- 3 dex higher than the present level. However, inverse Compton losses against the intense microwave background substantially reduce the ages and numbers of sources that are detected in flux-limited surveys. The realization that the galaxy forming material in those epochs was concentrated in filaments occupying a small fraction of the total volume then leads to the conclusion that radio lobes permeated much of the volume occupied by the protogalactic material during that era. The sustained overpressure in these extended lobes is likely to have played an important role in triggering the high inferred rate of galaxy formation at z > 1.5 and in the magnetization of the cosmic network of filaments.Comment: 5 pages, 0 figures, submitted to ApJ Letters; uses emulateapj
