Giant enhancement of room temperature magnetoresistance in La_{0.67}Sr_{0.33}MnO_{3}/Nd_{0.67}Sr_{0.33}MnO_{3} multilayers
The metal-insulator transition temperature in CMR manganites has been altered
and brought close to the room temperature by preparing
LaSrMnO (LSMO)/ NdSrMnO (NSMO)
multilayers with ultra thin individual layers of LSMO and NSMO. The LSMO/NSMO
multilayers with ultra thin individual layers of thickness of about
exhibits 150% magnetoresistance at 270 K whereas LSMO/NSMO multilayers with
moderate individual layer thickness of about each exhibits a mere 15%
magnetoresistance at the same temperature. We have shown that the reduction in
thickness of the individual layers leads to increased spin fluctuation which
results in the enhancement of magnetoresistance.Comment: Replaced with revised version and new figure, 9 pages, 4 figure
The Dual Phase Oscillation Hypothesis and the Neuropsychology of Docu-Fiction Film
The dual phase oscillation (DPO) hypothesis recently proposed by Mukhopadhyay
(2014), is based on the neural correlate of aesthetic paradox; the paradox referring
to a state of simultaneous heightened emotional experience and a state of detached
composure during art appreciation. The hypothesis proposed that aesthetic delight
is the dynamic, oscillatory balance between Suspension of Disbelief (SOD) and
Introspective Detached Contemplation (IDC) and is orchestrated by functional
coherence of the Default Mode Network (DMN) of the brain. This article is an
extrapolation of the concepts of the DPO hypothesis which here is theoretically
integrated with the experience of the art form of film. In film, an important functional
aspect of SOD, in addition to other central elements, is the suppression of the literal
identity of the performer in the narrative performance and an overall suspension of
the awareness that the art form is staged. Docu-fiction film, a developing genre in
contemporary filmmaking, attempts to capture documentary reality while
simultaneously introducing fictional elements in the narrative. The article proposes
that in docu-fiction film, the SOD-IDC dynamics of both a fiction film and a documentary film operates oscillating in a bigger scenario and the preconceived
mindset of the audience cannot offer a stable expectancy regarding the genre of the
film which introduces the element of ambiguity. Thus docu-fiction film-making
exploits the unique attributes of the art form of film (by portraying verisimilitude as
well as imaginative abstraction and fiction) at its fullest following the DPO
hypothesis
Compact bifluid hybrid stars: Hadronic Matter mixed with self-interacting fermionic Asymmetric Dark Matter
The masses and radii of non-rotating and rotating configurations of pure
hadronic stars mixed with self-interacting fermionic Asymmetric Dark Matter are
calculated within the two-fluid formalism of stellar structure equations in
general relativity. The Equation of State (EoS) of nuclear matter is obtained
from the density dependent M3Y effective nucleon-nucleon interaction. We
consider dark matter particle mass of 1 GeV. The EoS of self-interacting dark
matter is taken from two-body repulsive interactions of the scale of strong
interactions. We explore the conditions of equal and different rotational
frequencies of nuclear matter and dark matter and find that the maximum mass of
differentially rotating stars with self-interacting dark matter to be with radius kms.Comment: 9 pages including 1 table & 8 figure
