Finite hadronization time and unitarity in quark recombination model
The effect of finite hadronization time is considered in the recombination
model, and it is shown that the hadron multiplicity turns out to be
proportional to the initial quark density and unitarity is conserved in the
model. The baryon to meson ratio increases rapidly with the initial quark

Hadronization in heavy ion collisions: Recombination and fragmentation of partons
We argue that the emission of hadrons with transverse momentum up to about 5
GeV/c in central relativistic heavy ion collisions is dominated by
recombination, rather than fragmentation of partons. This mechanism provides a
natural explanation for the observed constant baryon-to-meson ratio of about
one and the apparent lack of a nuclear suppression of the baryon yield in this
momentum range. Fragmentation becomes dominant at higher transverse momentum,
but the transition point is delayed by the energy loss of fast partons in dense

Recombination Models
We review the current status of recombination and coalescence models that
have been successfully applied to describe hadronization in heavy ion
collisions at RHIC energies. Basic concepts as well as actual implementations
of the idea are discussed. We try to evaluate where we stand in our

Particle correlations at RHIC from parton coalescence dynamics -- first results
A new dynamical approach that combines covariant parton transport theory with
hadronization channels via parton coalescence and fragmentation is applied to
Au+Au at RHIC. Basic consequences of the simple coalescence formulas, such as
elliptic flow scaling and enhanced proton/pion ratio, turn out to be rather

Potential Alteration of Analogue Regolith by X-Ray Computed Tomography
The Mars 2020 rover mission will collect and cache samples from the martian surface for possible retrieval and subsequent return to Earth. Mars Returned Samples may provide definitive information about the presence of organic compounds that could shed light on the existence of past or present life on Mars. Post-mission analyses will depend on the development of a set of reliable sample handling and analysis procedures that cover the full range of materials which may or may not contain evidence of past or present martian life [1]
High Energy Nuclear Collisions: Theory Overview
We review some basic concepts of Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics and discuss
our understanding of some key results from the experimental program at the
Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). We focus in particular on the early
time dynamics of nuclear collisions, some result from lattice QCD, hard probes

Hadronization in heavy ion collisions: recombination or fragmentation?
We show that hadron production in relativistic heavy ion collisions at
transverse momenta larger than 2 GeV/c can be explained by the competition of
two different hadronization mechanisms. Above 5 GeV/c hadron production can be
described by fragmentation of partons that are created perturbatively. Below 5
GeV/c recombination of partons from the dense and hot fireball dominates. This
can explain some of the surprising features of RHIC data like the constant
baryon-to-meson ratio of about one and the small nuclear suppression for
