    Observation of a near-threshold omega-J/psi mass enhancement in exclusive B-->K omega J/psi decays

    Full text link
    We report the observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the omega-J/psi invariant mass distribution for exclusive B-->K omega J/psi decays. The results are obtained from a 253 fb-1 data sample that contains 275 million BB-bar meson pairs that were collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+e- collider. The statistical significance of the omega-J/psi mass enhancement is estimated to be greater than 8 sigma.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letter

    Study of CP Violating Effects in Time Dependent B0(B0ˉ)D()π±B^0(\bar{B^0}) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm} Decays

    Full text link
    We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for B0(Bˉ0)D()π±B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm} decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing ϕ3\phi_3. Using fully reconstructed D()πD^{(*)}\pi events from a 140fb1140 {\rm fb}^{-1} data sample collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for DπD^* \pi and DπD \pi decays, 2RD()πsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3±δD()π)2R_{D^{(*)} \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3 \pm \delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}), where RD()πR_{D^{(*)} \pi} is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured amplitudes, and δD()π\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi} is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of δD()π\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi} being close to either 0 or 180180^{\circ}, we obtain 2RDπsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3)=0.060±0.040(stat)±0.019(sys)|2R_{D^* \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.060 \pm 0.040(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.019(\mathrm{sys}) and 2RDπsin(2ϕ1+ϕ3)=0.061±0.037(stat)±0.018(sys)|2R_{D \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.061 \pm 0.037(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.018(\mathrm{sys}).Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to Physical Review Letter

    Search for B^- --> J/psi Lambda p-bar decay

    Full text link
    We report the results of a search for B^{-} \to \jpsi \Lambda \pbar based on a data set of 78 fb1^{-1} data collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+ee^+ e^- collider. No substantial signal is found, and we set the branching fraction upper limit {\cal B}(B^{-} \to \jpsi \Lambda \pbar) < 4.1 \times 10^{-5} at 90% confidence level.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys. Observation of the D1(2420)->DPI+PI- decays

    Full text link
    We report on the first observation of D1Dπ+πD_1\to D\pi^+\pi^- decays (where the contribution from the dominant known D1DπD_1 \to D^* \pi decay mode is excluded) in the BD1πB\to D_1\pi decays. The observation is based on 15.2×107BBˉ15.2\times 10^7 B\bar{B} events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. We also set 90% confidence level upper limits for the D2D()π+πD_2^*\to D^{(*)}\pi^+\pi^- and D1Dπ+πD_1 \to D^*\pi^+\pi^- decays in the BD2πB\to D^*_2\pi and BD1πB\to D_1\pi decays, respectively.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figure

    Observation of Large CP Violation and Evidence for Direct CP Violation in B0-->pi+pi- Decays

    Full text link
    We report the first observation of CP-violating asymmetries in B0 --> pi+pi- decays based on a 140 fb-1 data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We reconstruct one neutral B meson as a B0 --> pi+pi- CP eigenstate and identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson from its decay products. We apply an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the distribution of the time intervals between the two B meson decay points. The fit yields the CP-violating asymmetry amplitudes Apipi = +0.58+/-0.15(stat)+/-0.07(syst) and Spipi = -1.00+/-0.21(stat)+/-0.07(syst). We rule out the CP-conserving case, Apipi=Spipi=0, at a level of 5.2 standard deviations. We also find evidence for direct CP violation with a significance at or greater than 3.2 standard deviations for any Spipi value.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure

    Evidence for B0->pi0pi0

    Full text link
    We report evidence for the decay B0->pi0pi0. The analysis is based on a data sample of 152million BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4s) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- storage ring. We find 25.6+9.3/-8.4(stat)+1.6/-1.4(syst) B0->pi0pi0 signal events with a significance of 3.4 standard deviations. We measure the branching fraction to be (1.7+-0.6(stat)+-0.2(syst))*10^{-6}.Comment: Submitted to PR

    Search for the Lepton-Flavor-Violating Decay τμη\tau^- \to \mu^- \eta at Belle

    Full text link
    We have searched for the Lepton Flavor Violating decay τμη\tau^- \to \mu^- \eta using a data sample of 84.3 fb1^{-1} accumulated with the Belle detector at KEK. The η\eta-meson was detected through the decay modes: ηγγ\eta \to \gamma\gamma and π+ππ0\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0. No signal candidates are found, and we obtain an upper limit for the branching fraction B(τμη)<3.4×107{\cal B}(\tau^- \to \mu^- \eta)<3.4\times 10^{-7} at the 90% confidence level.Comment: Submitted to Phys.Rev.Let

    A Measurement of Lifetime Difference in D0D^0 Meson Decays

    Full text link
    We report a measurement of the D0D^0-Dˉ0\bar{D}{}^0 mixing parameter yCPy_{CP} using 23.4 fb1^{-1} of data collected near the Υ\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. yCPy_{CP} is measured from the lifetime difference of D0D^0 mesons decaying into the Kπ+K^-\pi^+ state and the CP even eigenstate KK+K^-K^+. We find yCP=(0.5±1.00.8+0.7)×102y_{CP}=(-0.5\pm 1.0{}^{+0.7}_{-0.8})\times10^{-2}, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic, corresponding to a 95% confidence interval 0.030<yCP<0.020-0.030 < y_{CP} < 0.020.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

    Full text link
    We report a measurement of the charge asymmetry for same-sign dileptons in B0B^0-Bˉ0\bar{B}^0 mixing, AslA_{\rm sl}. The data were collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. Using a data sample of 78 fb1^{-1} recorded at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance and 9 fb1^{-1} recorded at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance, we measure Asl=(1.1±7.9(stat)±7.0(sys))×103A_{\rm sl} = (-1.1 \pm 7.9(\text{stat}) \pm 7.0(\text{sys}))\times 10^{-3}.Comment: 21 pages, 9 figures, 3 tables, submitted to Physical Review

    Measurements of Branching Fractions and Polarization in B > K^* rho Decays

    Full text link
    We present results of a study of the charmless vector-vector decays B^0 -> K^{*0} rho^0 and B^+ ->K^{*0} rho^+. The results are based on a 140 fb^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e^+e^- collider. We obtain the branching fraction B(B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+)=(6.6 +- 2.2(stat.) +- 0.8 (syst.)) x 10^{-6}, and set upper limits on the branching fractions B(B^0 -> K^{*0} rho^0) f_0(980) K^{*0})<5.2 x 10^{-6}. We also perform a helicity analysis of the rho and K^* vector mesons in the decay B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+, and obtain the longitudinal polarization fraction R_0(B^+ -> K^{*0} rho^+)=0.50 +- 0.19(stat.)+0.05-0.07}(syst.).Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, submitted to ICHEP04, Beijing, Chin
