of Project The recent interest in Network Computers (NC) has kindled somewhat of a rebirth in as a platform for an Intel-based NC. With the bloated Workplace Shell and other Graphical User Interface (GUI) components removed, the OS/2 kernel makes a good foundation for a Java-based workstation. It requires the installation of a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and the required operating system support for the Java Application Programming Interface (API). Once enabled, the system will allow for the execution of Java applets and Java applications using the underlying OS/2 kernel for memory management, scheduling, dispatching, and device support. In order to take advantage of the new crop of device architectures now emerging, such as Universal Serial Bus (USB), Firewire, and others, the OS/2 device driver interface must be redesigned to support both the older 16-bit device drivers and a new crop of 32-bit device drivers 1 . In order to insure continued support, the drivers should be written wi..

This leads which all decision makers (including the robot) can be players. 9.1 provides some basic review and perspective that will help in undersingle decision under uncertainty, which is typically referred to theory. 437 decisions simultaneously and have conflicting interests. game theory, which is covered in Section 9.3, there are two DMs that have diametrically opposed interests. game in Section 9.4, any number of DMs come together to form which any degree of conflict or competition is allowable among them. Section 9.5 concludes the chapter by covering justifications and criticisms of the general models formulated in problems in general. This chapter was written without any strong dependencies on Part II. In fact, even the concepts from Chapter 2 are not needed because there are no stages or state spaces. Occasional references to Part II will be given, but these are not vital to the understanding. Most of the focus in this chapter is on discrete spaces. 9.1.
