BUSINESS CONTINUITY, A CONSTANT ISSUE FOR MANAGERS AND AUDITORS
The crisis of credits and its effects upon all companies, make the assumption of activity continuity be not anymore a pre-established conclusion. The major cash issues, affecting the banks, insurance companies, retailers, car manufacturers and all companies regardless of their activity, prove that keeping the business continuity, i.e. having enough funds for compliance with an obligation to be able to reach maturity at least twelve months after the balance sheet date is now a real problem for many companies.Likewise, we are paying attention to the topic and to the increasing number of insolvencies at the national, European and international levels.insolvency; principle of business continuity; financial statements; auditor; manager
A LADM-based temporal cadastral information system for modelling of easement rights – A case study of Turkey
Type people to land relations are dynamic and, as a consequence, the nature of land title and cadastral data is of a dynamic nature. Land title and cadastral data are core components for a lot of property applications (e.g. taxation, valuation, mortgage). Those applications require up to date, complete and reliable data–including temporal data as in use in application forms and transactions. In this paper, the modelling of Rights, Restrictions and Responsibilities (RRR) is discussed with a focus on the modelling of easement rights in a case study in Turkey. Functional requirements with respect to the characteristics of easement rights are investigated based upon interviews with professional experts in the public and private sector. Then a prototype model was built based on a simple implementation of the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) RRR classes and by conforming to the national cadastral data management standards related to land registration systems. This new proposed model includes temporal cadastral attributes related to easements. This is materialised in the ‘Administrative Package’ and illustrated in the Turkey LADM country profile. We show that the LADM can be used to describe for the time dimension of cadastral information in Turkey, but that there are semantic differences, similarities and mismatches of classes and attributes between the LADM and the cadastral information system in Turkey. Proposed LADM-based model for the time dimension of cadastral information will be of immense advantage to land administrators, the governments and land users in Turkey
COMMERCIAL NEGOTIATIONS OPTIMIZATION UNDER COMPETITIVENESS INCREASING WITHIN THE KNOWLEDGE BASED ECONOMY
Given the strong economic development and diversification of international relations it was foreseen the need of imposing to realize trade negotiations frequently and consistently, in the idea of maximizing economic activities profitability. Therefore, strategies to improve the process of negotiating followed an upward trend towards the correct assessment of the limits of the negotiating partners under discussion, aiming to enhance responsiveness to dynamic market requirements, anticipating and recording with much promptness and sensitivity the focal points unfolding the process itself. Re-engineering measures orientation of the commercial negotiation process towards boosting economic agents with a high export potential, lead to the implementation of assistance programs to encourage the emergence of new strategies to seize the competitive advantage within the specialized market allows the flexibility in action sizing and economic conjuncture and cultural peculiarities of the business partner predicting.commercial negotiations, knowledge based economy, negotiating strategies, endogenous and exogenous variables and optimization.
A comparative review of the inflation-targeting framework post the crisis of 2008
Research report (M.Com. (Development Theory and Policy))--University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management, School of Business and Economic Sciences, 2013.The global financial crisis has shaken not only the foundations of the financial system but also elements of macroeconomic stability, particularly monetary policy as it relates to the central bank institution and its fundamental operations. This paper is centred on examining the aspects of the inflation-targeting framework both theoretically and practically, as the fulcrum around which modern central banking functions, in the context of the crisis and the economic conditions thereafter. This discussion is based on the idea that there exist spaces for broadening and extending the mandate of the central bank beyond inflation targeting and that crisis conditions have gone to show that
Various Methods for Queue Length and Traffic Volume Estimation Using Probe Vehicle Trajectories
Probe vehicles, like mobile sensors, can provide rich information about
traffic conditions in transportation networks. The rapid development of
connected vehicle technology and the emergence of ride-hailing services have
enabled the collection of a huge amount of trajectory data of the probe
vehicles. Attribute to the scale and the accessibility, the trajectory data
have become a potential substitute for the widely used fixed-location sensors
in terms of the performance measures of the transportation networks. There has
been some literature estimating traffic volume and queue length at signalized
intersections using the trajectory data. However, some of the existing methods
require the prior information about the distribution of queue lengths and the
penetration rate of the probe vehicles, which might vary a lot both spatially
and temporally and usually are not known in real life. Some other methods can
only work when the penetration rate of the probe vehicles is sufficiently high.
To overcome the limitations of the existing literature, this paper proposes a
series of novel methods for queue length and traffic volume estimation. The
validation results show that the methods are accurate enough for mid-term and
long-term performance measures and traffic signal control, even when the
penetration rate is very low. Therefore, the methods are ready for large-scale
real-field applications.Comment: Transportation network sensing using probe vehicle trajectorie
Optimasi Biaya Distribusi pada HFVRP Menggunakan Algoritma Particle Swarm Optimization
Distribution systems play a significant role in logistics operations. For the companies with consumer goods products this even more important as consumer goods production has fairly cheap price compared to the distribution cost that must be spent by the company. In addition, increased fuel costs have urged the company to be more efficient in planning and schedule the transportation routes. This paper presents the application of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to minimize the travel distance and total cost of a Heterogeneous Fleet Vehicle Routing Problem (HFVRP). Experimental results from its application to a real-world case study are presented. The model in this research is the HFVRP where vehicles have different capacities, variable costs, and fixed costs. PSO algorithm was applied because of the high number of customers served, and therefore the exact methods may not be sufficient. PSO parameter setting which produced the optimum result was with the number of swarms 50, C1 1,5, and C2 2 determined through the design of the experiment. The results of computation show that using PSO can minimize the total traveled distance with an average savings of 51.55% and minimize total cost with an average savings of 44.92% from the existing vehicle routes operated by the company.Distribution systems play a significant role in logistics operations.
