The mixed Hodge structure on the fundamental group of hyperelliptic curves and higher cycles
In this paper we give a geometrical interpretation of an extension of mixed
Hodge structures (MHS) obtained from the canonical MHS on the group ring of the
fundamental group of a hyperelliptic curve modulo the fourth power of its
augmentation ideal. We show that the class of this extension coincides with the
regulator image of a canonical higher cycle in a hyperelliptic jacobian. This
higher cycle was introduced and studied by Collino.Comment: 22 pages, 3 figures. To appear in: Journal of Algebraic Geometr
Co-Teaching in Today\u27s Schools
Co-teaching in today\u27s schools varies based on the model that schools choose and the teachers providing the support. This literature review examined the wide variety of co-teaching models and established that co-teaching is most effective when the co-teachers share a similar philosophy and are well prepared through efficient planning. It is also necessary for the classroom size to be small enough for teachers to be able to meet with students individually or in small groups. This research focused on how co-teachers view their arrangement and how it has been implemented in the schools in which they teach. Surveys were anonymously sent to teachers in two elementary school settings: one a small suburban school and the other a city school
All The Things I Can\u27t Throw Away
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay\u27s first paragraph.
Taking after my mother now, I save receipts in the center billfold of my wallet. Loose change, half empty tubes of lipstick, gum wrappers. Postcards, photographs in albums, birthday cards, yearbooks signed by forgotten friends
How to evaluate cultural impacts of events? A model and methodology proposal
The increasing number of events has generated a growing research interest in assessing impacts of the events. So far, most empirical studies have analysed economic impacts, whereas social, political or cultural impacts have been taken into consideration only to a limited extent. The aim of this paper is to propose a conceptual and methodological model to measure and analyse cultural effects of events. This article first examines how social and cultural impacts are conceptualised and analysed by different disciplines, and then proposes a new model to assess cultural impacts of events, named Cultural Impact Perception (CIP). The model has been designed using two steps, namely: (1) defining cultural impacts and (2) proposing a new methodological model for the assessment and analysis of these types of impact. The paper concludes with reflections around the future implementation of the model and underlines CIP's contribution to the scientific debate in this field
Second fundamental form of the Prym map in the ramified case
In this paper we study the second fundamental form of the Prym map in the ramified case .
We give an expression of it in terms of the second fundamental form of the
Torelli map of the covering curves. We use this expression to give an upper
bound for the dimension of a germ of a totally geodesic submanifold, and hence
of a Shimura subvariety of , contained in the
Prym locus.Comment: To appear in Galois Covers, Grothendieck-Teichmueller Theory and

Closed injective systems and its fundamental limit spaces
In this article we introduce the concept of limit space and fundamental limit
space for the so-called closed injected systems of topological spaces. We
present the main results on existence and uniqueness of limit spaces and
several concrete examples. In the main section of the text, we show that the
closed injective system can be considered as objects of a category whose
morphisms are the so-called cis-morphisms. Moreover, the transition to
fundamental limit space can be considered a functor from this category into
category of topological spaces. Later, we show results about properties on
functors and counter-functors for inductive closed injective system and
fundamental limit spaces. We finish with the presentation of some results of
characterization of fundamental limite space for some special systems and the
study of so-called perfect properties.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figure
Silver oxide sorbent for carbon dioxide
Material can be regenerated at least 20 times by heating at 250 C. Sorbent is compatible with environment of high humidity; up to 20% by weight of carbon dioxide can be absorbed. Material is prepared from silver carbonate, potassium hydroxide or carbonate, and sodium silicate
