The ledger book records accounts payable and receivable for the firm of Anselm Hirsch DĂĽlken from its founding in 1837 until 1870. Interleaved are a few notes, receipts, and various other documents. Also inserted in between the front cover and the first page are photocopies of family photographs from roughly 1898, as well as a couple of pages of genealogical notes covering the period until 1939.Walter DulkenAnselm Hirsch DĂĽlken founded his eponymous firm in 1837 in Deutz, now incorporated into Cologne. Although the firm initially traded in fertilizers and wool, it quickly shifted focus to the import of lumber from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. The company moved into Cologne, and then to Porz around 1900. At the Porz facility much of the imported lumber was manufactured into flooring, window and door frames. Hirsch's descendants were forced to sell the firm A.H. DĂĽlken in 1937 to the firm Louis Krages in Bremen; after the war, the DĂĽlken family received restitution from Krages.Processed for digitizationSent for digitizationReturned from digitizationdigitize
