How we understand the needs of an ageing population on a global and local level is the concern of researchers, governments and policy makers. What are the decisions that made to be made about how and where people live for the existing communities of older people, and the generations of older people to come?Woollahra Municipal Council (WMC) frequently engage with the local community to understand their wants and needs and how the council need to respond to their needs. To extend their understanding of the community needs Woollahra Municipal Council (WMC) partnered with Researchers from the Ageing Futures Institute (AFI) and the ARC Laureate Felt Experience & Empathy Lab (fEEL) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) to engage with mature adults in the community through innovative engagement approaches to understand their views on ageing and to imagine and design community solutions to support ageing well in Woollahra. The It feels Like Home: Woollahra Emotion Visualisation Experience (WEVE) began in February 2019 with a series of workshops with the community. Researchers, artists and designers were engaged to work with the data to create an artwork exhibited as part of The Big Anxiety Festival (September - November 2019) that reflected the responses of the community to where they live
