    The working paper contains two articles about ambivalences in intergenerational relations. They are revised versions of presentations at the 62nd Annual Conference of the National Council on Family Relations, Minneapolis, November 10, 2000. Kurt Lüscher and Frank Lettke present results from an empirical study in the region of Konstanz, Germany. It is shown how common torn feelings are and in which dyadic relationships they occur. Bertram Cohler comments on the issue of intergenerational ambivalence from a theoretical perspective. He shows that the concept of ambivalence is suitable to connect individual and society

Es werden die Ergebnisse einer empirischen Studie vorgestellt, die in Konstanz durchgefuehrt wurde. Sie zeigt, wie zwiespaeltig Gefuehle zwischen den Generationen sein koennen. Die Ambivalenz zwischen den Generationen wird auch aus theoretischer Perspektive betrachtet.
