This document focuses on migration within the EU, in the context of both EU citizens' rights of free movement and residence, and of Member States' diverse citizenship and labour migration laws. It looks into the topic with the intention of clarifying concepts and answering a number of questions: how many EU and non-EU citizens can be counted as migrants within the EU? How do migrants impact the national labour markets and what living conditions do they encounter in their new country of residence

LocLinkVis: A Geographic Information Retrieval-Based System for Large-Scale Exploratory Search

In this paper we present LocLinkVis (Locate-Link-Visualize); a system which supports exploratory information access to a document collection based on geo-referencing and visualization. It uses a gazetteer which contains representations of places ranging from countries to buildings, and that is used to recognize toponyms, disambiguate them into places, and to visualize the resulting spatial footprints.Comment: SEM'1

Promoting Community through Caring Leadership: An Action Research Project

The overall purpose of this study was to increase collaboration across USD’s decentralized graduate admission departments through the approach of caring leadership (Uusiautti, 2013). The study was guided by the overarching question: How can I use caring leadership (Uusiautti, 2013) within academic affairs to encourage effective collaboration and understanding and foster a sense of community across departments? It was also guided by the sub-questions: Does gender impact the practices of collaboration and exchange of ideas within decentralized admission offices? If so, how does the current culture and structure of USD’s graduate admission offices aid/impede the practice of caring leadership (Uusiautti, 2013) across departments when considering intersecting identities? Data was collected through surveys, evaluations, and reflections with the intention of promoting understanding, encouraging the exchange of ideas, and developing a sense of community. As a result of this study, the Office of Graduate Admissions will continue to foster a stronger sense of community and increase in-person communication between the decentralized admission offices, leading to a better understanding of departmental needs and responsibilities while strengthening cross-departmental efforts to better serve prospective students. Ultimately, this project is aimed at helping me improve my professional practice as a higher education administrator

17 p.El objetivo de esta breve introducción es realizar un ejercicio que nos permita valorar, en algunos aspectos, la idea de justicia, o las características que distinguen a una sociedad justa. Idea que se presentará en contraste con el pensamiento de Rawls y ciertas tradiciones que configuran la reflexión de la filosofía política. Reflexiones que nos pueden servir para inquietarnos, provocarnos a su estudio o simplemente recordarnos un tema que hoy día sigue siendo muy significativo y atrayente. ¿Colombia es competitiva en la industria del vidrio?

El vidrio se ha convertido en uso diario de las personas debido que el vidrio es utilizado en la industria automotriz, construcción, usos para muebles y nuevas propuestas que hoy se puede disfrutar con un amplio portafolio, poco a poco gana terreno a ciertos materiales que se consideraban superiores como la madera o los plásticos. En términos generales de comercio exterior Colombia ha sido más importador que exportador en el sector vidriero debido que la fabricación del vidrio representa grandes problemas medioambientales en la producción ya que en el proceso de la fusión del vidrio consume más energía que en el resto de producción por sus altas temperatura haciendo que Colombia pierda competitividad por tecnología antigua. Adicional Colombia ha emprendido una agresiva política de integración, buscando tratados de libre comercio en el sector vidriero, el propósito del ensayo es saber la competitividad de la industria del vidrio Colombiano a los diferentes países, conociendo la innovación y tecnología de los otros países, Sin embargo existen países como Estados Unidos, Europa y China que son muy competitivos en el sector tanto en la demanda como la oferta en este sector debido al nivel de industrialización que tienen y sus aplicaciones.The glass has become everyday people because glass is used in the automotive, construction, furniture and new uses for proposals that today you can enjoy a wide portfolio, gradually gaining ground for certain materials as superior as wood or plastics.
