Condensate wave function and elementary excitations of bosonic polar molecules: beyond the first Born approximation
We investigate the condensate wave function and elementary excitations of
strongly interacting bosonic polar molecules in a harmonic trap, treating the
scattering amplitude beyond the standard first Born approximation (FBA). By
using an appropriate trial wave function in the variational method, effects of
the leading order correction beyond the FBA have been investigated and shown to
be significantly enhanced when the system is close to the phase boundary of
collapse. How such leading order effect of going beyond the FBA can be observed
in a realistic experiment is also discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
Privacy Preserving Utility Mining: A Survey
In big data era, the collected data usually contains rich information and
hidden knowledge. Utility-oriented pattern mining and analytics have shown a
powerful ability to explore these ubiquitous data, which may be collected from
various fields and applications, such as market basket analysis, retail,
click-stream analysis, medical analysis, and bioinformatics. However, analysis
of these data with sensitive private information raises privacy concerns. To
achieve better trade-off between utility maximizing and privacy preserving,
Privacy-Preserving Utility Mining (PPUM) has become a critical issue in recent
years. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of PPUM. We first
present the background of utility mining, privacy-preserving data mining and
PPUM, then introduce the related preliminaries and problem formulation of PPUM,
as well as some key evaluation criteria for PPUM. In particular, we present and
discuss the current state-of-the-art PPUM algorithms, as well as their
advantages and deficiencies in detail. Finally, we highlight and discuss some
technical challenges and open directions for future research on PPUM.Comment: 2018 IEEE International Conference on Big Data, 10 page
Study on shear resistance of full-scale PC box girder reinforced by SPCCS method
Steel plate and concrete composite strengthening (SPCCS) method is developed on the basis of steel and concrete composite girder, the process of which mainly includes welding studs on the reinforcing steel plates, planting rebars in the original concrete, and casting concrete between the original structure and steel plates, thus the new and existing concrete can work together. It can improve both the bearing capacity and stiffness of bridge significantly. In order to investigate the shear resistance of concrete girder reinforced by SPCCS method, two full-scale damaged box girder released from an actual bridge are tested for contrast, one without reinforcement and the other is reinforced by SPCCS method. The shear mechanical behavior and failure mode before and after reinforcement are obtained and analyzed. Furthermore, the shear mechanism and calculation formula of shear capacity for box girder reinforced by SPCCS method are presented. The comparisons show that the calculation results are in good agreement with the test results
Chronic inflammation triggered by the NLRP3 inflammasome in myeloid cells promotes growth plate dysplasia by mesenchymal cells
AbstractSkeletal complications are common features of neonatal-onset multisystem inflammatory disease (NOMID), a disorder caused by NLRP3-activating mutations. NOMID mice in which NLRP3 is activated globally exhibit several characteristics of the human disease, including systemic inflammation and cartilage dysplasia, but the mechanisms of skeletal manifestations remain unknown. In this study, we find that activation of NLRP3 in myeloid cells, but not mesenchymal cells triggers chronic inflammation, which ultimately, causes growth plate and epiphyseal dysplasia in mice. These responses are IL-1 signaling-dependent, but independent of PARP1, which also functions downstream of NLRP3 and regulates skeletal homeostasis. Mechanistically, inflammation causes severe anemia and hypoxia in the bone environment, yet down-regulates the HIF-1α pathway in chondrocytes, thereby promoting the demise of these cells. Thus, activation of NLRP3 in hematopoietic cells initiates IL-1β-driven paracrine cascades, which promote abnormal growth plate development in NOMID mice.</jats:p
Screening and Growth Characteristics of Probiotics for High Efficient Degradation of Corn Gluten Meal
The strains with high protease production were isolated and screened from various sources to provide strain resources for microbial fermentation of corn gluten meal to produce corn peptide, also to provide strain resources for the value-added and comprehensive utilization of corn gluten meal. The strains were screened by corn gluten meal medium and Folinol method, and were identified by 16S rDNA sequences. The activity and growth characteristics of the target strain protease were further studied. The result showed that 405 bacteria strains were isolated and 58 strains had transparent hydrolytic circles from corn gluten meal medium plates. The strains were classified into 4 families, 5 genera, 17 species and 2 subspecies, including members of Bacillus, Lactobacillus and Planomicrobium. And the Bacillus spp.was the most abundant. The target strains can secrete alkaline, acidic and neutral proteases, and most of the strains show higher alkaline protease activity.Eight strains were selected and their growth characteristics were studied. The optimal growth temperature and pH were 30-40 ℃ and 7~9, respectively. The protease activity and growth characteristics showed the strain specificity
