Effect of Shot Peening on Surface Characteristics of Ni-Based Single-Crystal Superalloy

    Get PDF
The effect of shot peening on surface characteristics of DD3 Ni-based single-crystal superalloy including microstructures, texture and residual stress were investigated, utilizing XRD analysis. Results showed that the polycrystals was introduced into the surface of single-crystal specimen by shot peeing and the initial texture (200) was erased after 60 s-processing. The variation in microstructure was mainly influenced by the processing time and finer domains as well higher microstrain were obtained after 60 s-processing. The value of residual stress depended upon processing time and measurement direction. In the early period of processing (³10 s), residual stress was anisotropy, being significant smaller in h110i direction. With the processing time increased, the anisotropic residual stress gradually changed to isotropic residual stress, due to domainorientation randomization, domain refinement and increase in plastic strain. Also increasing processing time could significantly enhance the magnitude of residual stress and the microhardness. In addition, the influence of processing time on work hardening and residual stress was discussed, based on the deformation mechanism

Tool magazine and automatic tool changer (ATC) is used to store and change tools in a machining center, which plays an important role in automatic manufacturing. Therefore, the stability and reliability of tool magazine and ATC is very important to a machining center. Failures of tool magazine and ATC would increase ramp-up repair time and repair cost. So early warning system of failures for tool magazine and ATC becomes a research hotspot. The main vibration signals of tool magazine and ATC would occur obviously when the tool arm grasps a tool holder, draws a tool holder out of a tool into spindle or tool pocket and inserts a tool holder into spindle or tool pocket. To predict failures of tool magazine and ATC and improve the availability of machining center, a vibration test procedure and calculation method of vibration signal threshold of pull nails looseness which can lead to tool falling failures are proposed based on the vibration detection theory. Then, the vibration signals of tool changing are analyzed and the relationship between the maximum amplitude of vibration signals and the looseness severity of pull nails is also illustrated. The final experiment results show that the tool falling failure warning method is feasible to reduce the failures of tool magazine and ATC through the early warning system based on the threshold of vibration signals

Load spectrum generation of machining center based on rainflow counting method

Reliability bench tests and probability design method are two important means to improve the reliability of machine tools, while the load spectrum of machine tools is the foundation of reliability bench tests and probability design. According to the load spectrum, the actual working conditions can be simulated in laboratories. A dynamic load spectrum generation method is proposed to establish a representative load spectrum. Firstly, the cutting load measuring system is established based on the characteristics of the cutting loads, and then the actual cutting experiments designed by the orthogonal experimental method are conducted on the basis of the typical cutting conditions in laboratories. Secondly, the counting method of the cutting loads cycles is presented based on the dynamic load characteristics of a machining center. And loads cycles are counted by the proposed counting method, and then a rainflow matrix is formed. Thirdly, in order to improve the precision of the load spectrum the extrapolation of the loads is carried out using the parametric extrapolation method. Then the probability distribution functions of the mean and amplitude of the cutting loads are provided by the K-S goodness-of-fit test method. The case study indicates that the radial force, axial force, and cutting torque of the tested machining center follow gamma, normal, and Weibull distributions with different parameters, respectively. Finally, the joint distribution function of the mean and amplitude of the radial force, axial force, and cutting torque is obtained by using a combination of statistical analysis method, and the two-dimensional load spectrum of the MC is compiled

Reliability Evaluation of NC Machine Tools considering Working Conditions

    Get PDF
Reliability evaluation is the basis for reliability design of NC machine tools. Since traditional reliability evaluation methods do not consider the working conditions' effects on reliability, there is a great error of a result of a traditional method compared with an actual value. A new reliability evaluation model of NC machine tools is proposed based on the Cox proportional hazards model, which describes the mathematical relation between the working condition covariates and the reliability level of NC machine tools. Firstly, the coefficients of working condition covariates in the new reliability evaluation model are estimated by the partial likelihood estimation method; secondly, the working condition covariates which have no effects on the reliability of NC machine tools are eliminated by the likelihood ratio test; then parameters of the baseline failure rate function are estimated by the maximum likelihood estimation method. Thus, the reliability evaluation model of NC machine tool is obtained under different working conditions and the reliability level of NC machine tools is obtained. Case study shows that the proposed method could establish the relation between the working condition covariates and the reliability level of NC machine tools, and it would provide a new way for the reliability evaluation of NC machine tools

This paper establishes a three-dimensional solid model of J76-125 Straight Side High-speed Double-crack Precision Press using CATIA, and then the model is imported into an ANSYS environment to form the static and dynamic finite element simulation model. Based on the finite element analysis method, the static stress, deformation, vibration mode and transient response of the press bed are developed under preload conditions, as well as under the combination of the preload and nominal pressure conditions. Besides, the static loading experiment, the mode experiment and the pile-driving experiment are conducted to revise the simulation model. Finally, the simulation model and analysis procedure are verified through the comparison of the experiment results and the simulation ones

Exploiting Multiple Embeddings for Chinese Named Entity Recognition

Identifying the named entities mentioned in text would enrich many semantic applications at the downstream level. However, due to the predominant usage of colloquial language in microblogs, the named entity recognition (NER) in Chinese microblogs experience significant performance deterioration, compared with performing NER in formal Chinese corpus. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective neural framework to derive the character-level embeddings for NER in Chinese text, named ME-CNER. A character embedding is derived with rich semantic information harnessed at multiple granularities, ranging from radical, character to word levels. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves a large performance improvement on Weibo dataset and comparable performance on MSRA news dataset with lower computational cost against the existing state-of-the-art alternatives.Comment: accepted at CIKM 201

Estimating cancer incidence based on claims data from medical insurance systems in two areas lacking cancer registries in China.

BACKGROUND: We aimed to establish a Medical-Insurance-System-based Cancer Surveillance System (MIS-CASS) in China and evaluate the completeness and timeliness of this system through reporting cancer incidence rates using claims data in two regions in northern and southern China. METHODS: We extracted claims data from medical insurance systems in Hua County of Henan Province, and Shantou City in Guangdong Province in China from Jan 1, 2012 to Jun 30, 2019. These two regions have been considered to be high risk regions for oesophageal cancer. We developed a rigorous procedure to establish the MIS-CASS, which includes data extraction, cleaning, processing, case ascertainment, privacy protection, etc. Text-based diagnosis in conjunction with ICD-10 codes were used to determine cancer diagnosis. FINDINGS: In 2018, the overall age-standardised (Segi population) incidence rates (ASR World) of cancer in Hua County and Shantou City were 167·39/100,000 and 159·78/100,000 respectively. In both of these areas, lung cancer and breast cancer were the most common cancers in males and females respectively. Hua County is a high-risk region for oesophageal cancer (ASR World: 25·95/100,000), whereas Shantou City is not a high-risk region for oesophageal cancer (ASR World: 11·43/100,000). However, Nanao island had the highest incidence of oesophageal cancer among all districts and counties in Shantou (ASR World: 36·39/100,000). The age-standardised male-to-female ratio for oesophageal cancer was lower in Hua County than in Shantou (1·69 vs. 4·02). A six-month lag time was needed to report these cancer incidences for the MIS-CASS. INTERPRETATION: MIS-CASS efficiently reflects cancer burden in real-time, and has the potential to provide insight for improvement of cancer surveillance in China.
