Individual and work-related factors that contribute to low back pain among tricycle drivers in Dasmarinas City, Cavite
This research used a quantitative type of research method. The population of registered tricycle drivers in Dasmarinas City, Cavite is 2,019. From the population, the samples were chosen through purposive sampling. The sample size is equivalent to 334 and was computed using the Slovin;s formula. Questionnaire was used for data gathering instrument. Frequency distribution, cumulative incidence and risk ratio were used for data analysis. Under individual factors, results showed that tricycle drivers aged below 47 years old, female, with more than 11 years of working experience are at high risk of low back pain. It also showed that a waist circumference 㺔 cm, overweight and a high smoking habit are at high risk of developing low back pain, and having a waist-hip ratio of \u3e0.90 as a clinically significant risk. For work related factors, it showed that having a high risk score, and extended trunk for prolonged posture, a very High risk score, 㹠° flexed and side bending trunk, with uneven footing and 㹠° hip and knee flexion for the difficult posture are at high risk of developing low back pain. Those with very high risk score, extended and side bending trunk in posture with the greatest force load have an increased risk in developing low back pain while uneven footing with hip and knee flexion 㹠° have at this posture has a clinically significant risk in developing low back pain. It also showed that tricycle drivers experience low back pain on some days, with less than 3 months duration, and mild severity
