    Effective readership depends on an individual’s attitude towards books. This can also be influenced directly by the cost, relevance, and availability of books in the market. Many Africans barely read may be due to poor attitude towards reading, inability to afford books. Others also spend most of their time at work, so most of the time is spent on searching for bread. This article identifies and explains the causes of poor readership in Africa and the solutions on how to promote reading culture amongst African people
