Feature Engineering Using File Layout for Malware Detection
Malware detection on binary executables provides a high availability to even
binaries which are not disassembled or decompiled. However, a binary-level
approach could cause ambiguity problems. In this paper, we propose a new
feature engineering technique that use minimal knowledge about the internal
layout on a binary. The proposed feature avoids the ambiguity problems by
integrating the information about the layout with structural entropy. The
experimental results show that our feature improves accuracy and F1-score by
3.3% and 0.07, respectively, on a CNN based malware detector with realistic
benign and malicious samples.Comment: 2pages, no figures, This manuscript was presented in the poster

EFFECTS OF LANDING HEIGHT ON LOWER EXTREMITY JOINT BIOMECHANICS DURING UNILATERAL AND BILATERAL LANDINGS
The aim of this study was to examine the lower extremity kinematics and kinetics during landing phase, in response to the effects of landing height during unilateral and bilateral landing. Ten young healthy male subjects (age: 26.1ยฑ1.8yr, height: 183.2ยฑ4.4cm, weight: 76.1ยฑ6.9kg) participated in this study. Each subject performed the unilateral and bilateral landing from a 30cm and 45cm wooden platform. The results showed the peak vertical ground reaction force (PVGRF) was increased during unilateral landing and at greater landing height (
An Electrophilic Deguelin Analogue Inhibits STAT3 Signaling in H-Ras-Transformed Human Mammary Epithelial Cells: The Cysteine 259 Residue as a Potential Target
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is a point of convergence for numerous oncogenic signals that are often constitutively activated in many cancerous or transformed cells and some stromal cells in the tumor microenvironment. Persistent STAT3 activation in malignant cells stimulates proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, invasion, and tumor-promoting inflammation. STAT3 undergoes activation through phosphorylation on tyrosine 705, which facilitates its dimerization. Dimeric STAT3 translocates to the nucleus, where it regulates the transcription of genes involved in cell proliferation, survival, etc. In the present study, a synthetic deguelin analogue SH48, discovered by virtual screening, inhibited the phosphorylation, nuclear translocation, and transcriptional activity of STAT3 in H-ras transformed human mammary epithelial MCF-10A cells (MCF10A-ras). We speculated that SH48 bearing an alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl group could interact with a thiol residue of STAT3, thereby inactivating this transcription factor. Non-electrophilic analogues of SH48 failed to inhibit STAT3 activation, lending support to the above supposition. By utilizing a biotinylated SH48, we were able to demonstrate the complex formation between SH48 and STAT3. SH48 treatment to MCF10A-ras cells induced autophagy, which was verified by staining with a fluorescent acidotropic probe, LysoTracker Red, as well as upregulating the expression of LC3II and p62. In conclusion, the electrophilic analogue of deguelin interacts with STAT3 and inhibits its activation in MCF10A-ras cells, which may account for its induction of autophagic death.

THERMAL HYDRAULIC ISSUES OF CONTAINMENT FILTERED VENTING SYSTEM FOR A LONG OPERATING TIME
This study investigated the thermal hydraulic issues in the Containment Filtered Venting System (CFVS) for a long operating time using the MELCOR computer code. The modeling of the CFVS, including the models for pool scrubbing and the filter, was added to the input file for the OPR-1000, and a Station Blackout (SBO) was chosen as an accident scenario. Although depressurization in the containment building as a primary objective of the CFVS was successful, the decontamination feature by scrubbing and filtering in the CFVS for a long operating time could fail by the continuous evaporation of the scrubbing solution. After the operation of the CFVS, the atmosphere temperature in the CFVS became slightly above the water saturation temperature owing to the release of an amount of steam with high temperature from the containment building to the scrubbing solution. Reduced pipe diameters at the inlet and outlet of the CFVS vessel mitigated the evaporation of scrubbing water by controlling the amount of high-temperature steam and the water saturation temperature
A Universal Analysis Pipeline for Hybrid Capture-Based Targeted Sequencing Data with Unique Molecular Indexes
Hybrid capture-based targeted sequencing is being used increasingly for genomic variant profiling in tumor patients. Unique molecular index (UMI) technology has recently been developed and helps to increase the accuracy of variant calling by minimizing polymerase chain reaction biases and sequencing errors. However, UMI-adopted targeted sequencing data analysis is slightly different from the methods for other types of omics data, and its pipeline for variant calling is still being optimized in various study groups for their own purposes. Due to this provincial usage of tools, our group built an analysis pipeline for global application to many studies of targeted sequencing generated with different methods. First, we generated hybrid capture-based data using genomic DNA extracted from tumor tissues of colorectal cancer patients. Sequencing libraries were prepared and pooled together, and an 8-plexed capture library was processed to the enrichment step before 150-bp paired-end sequencing with Illumina HiSeq series. For the analysis, we evaluated several published tools. We focused mainly on the compatibility of the input and output of each tool. Finally, our laboratory built an analysis pipeline specialized for UMI-adopted data. Through this pipeline, we were able to estimate even on-target rates and filtered consensus reads for more accurate variant calling. These results suggest the potential of our analysis pipeline in the precise examination of the quality and efficiency of conducted experiments
