In Modern Portable Electronic Devices, Solid-State Drives (SSDs) Are Commonly Used and Have Been Identified as One of the Dominant Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Noise Sources that Can Cause RF Desensitization Issues. in This Paper, the EM Emission Source from an SSD Module is Identified and Analyzed using Near Field Scanning and Dipole Moment Source Reconstruction. the Identified Noise Current Path Including the Power Management Integrated Circuit and the Decoupling Capacitor is Validated with the Assistance of Full-Wave Simulation. the Measured Noise Voltage is Used as an Excitation in the Simulation and the Simulated Near Fields Showed a Good Correlation with Measured Near Fields in Both Pattern and Magnitude. based on the Validated Radiation Mechanism, an Optimized Layout is Proposed and Validated in Simulation Reducing the Far Field Radiation by 10 DB

A navigation and object location device for the blind

Gemstone Team VisionTeam Vision's goal is to create a navigation system for the blind. To achieve this, we took a multi-pronged approach. First, through surveys, we assessed the needs of the blind community and developed a system around those needs. Then, using recent technology, we combined a global positioning system (GPS), inertial navigation unit (INU), computer vision algorithms, and audio and haptic interfaces into one system. The GPS and INU work together to provide walking directions from building to building when outdoors and the computer vision algorithms identify and locate objects such as signs and landmarks, both indoors and outdoors. The speech-based interface ties the GPS, INU, and computer vision algorithms together into an interactive audio-based navigation device. Finally, the haptic interface provides an alternative intuitive directional guidance system. The resulting system guides users to speci ed buildings and to important objects such as cellular telephones, wallets, or even restroom or exit signs

How Customers Perceive Virtual Mirror Technology in the 4th Industrial Revolution Environment

    No full text
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore how customers perceive virtual mirror technology in the 4th industrial revolution environment. In particular, this study investigated how virtual mirror technology affects customer satisfaction and intention to use that are rarely examined in previous studies. Research questions include how proposed variables including sensory stimulation, enjoyment, product quality, telepresence, interactivity, and immersion affect satisfaction and intention to use and how satisfaction affects intention to use. Research design, data and methodology: This study conducted an online survey and applied factor and regression analyses to test hypotheses. Results: The results of this study found that effects of sensory stimulation, telepresence, and immersion on satisfaction were significant, while effects of enjoyment, product quality, and immersion on intention to use were significant. Therefore, variables affecting satisfaction and intention to use were different, while effects of immersion were significant both on satisfaction and intention to use. Conclusions: This study concluded that the role of virtual mirror technology helps customers determine product quality and increase satisfaction level, while it also helps customers enjoy shopping and increase intent to use the service. The results of this study provide how to foster better relationship with customers by applying advanced technologies.2

A Case with Improvement of Blepharospasm by Zolpidem

Zolpidem is usually used for the treatment of insomnia as a hypnotic drug. It was also suggested to be effective in the treatment of dystonia in some studies. A 74-year-old woman had been suffering from frequent and intense bilateral spasms of the eyelids for 20 years. She has been treated with botulinum toxin injection and taken some medications. But, she experienced a little effect and was not satisfied with those treatments. Her symptom was improved after taking Zolpidem which had been prescribed for insomnia by her primary physician. She did not show any improvement after placebo injection and neostigmine test. This is the first report which shows improvement of isolated blepharospasm by Zolpidem in Korea. Zolpidem can be one of useful alternative pharmacological treatments for blepharospasm. Further randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled studies are needed to validate this finding

Identification of Thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine Derivatives as c-KIT Inhibitors for Overcoming Imatinib Resistance

c-KIT is a promising therapeutic target against gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). In order to identify novel c-KIT inhibitors capable of overcoming imatinib resistance, we synthesized 31 novel thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine derivatives and performed SAR studies. We observed that, among these substances, 6r is capable of inhibiting significantly c-KIT and suppressing substantially proliferation of GIST-T1 cancer cells. It is of note that 6r is potent against a c-KIT V560G/D816V double mutant resistant to imatinib. Compared with sunitinib, 6r possesses higher differential cytotoxicity on c-KIT D816V Ba/F3 cells relative to parental Ba/F3 cells. In addition, kinase panel profiling reveals that 6r has reasonable kinase selectivity. It was found that 6r remarkably attenuates proliferation of cancer cells via blockade of c-KIT downstream signaling, and induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Furthermore, 6r notably suppresses migration and invasion, as well as anchorage-independent growth of GIST-T1 cells. This study provides useful SAR information for the design of novel c-KIT inhibitors overcoming imatinib-resistance
