Volatile constituents of the fruit oil of Illicium griffithii Hook. f. et Thoms. from Vietnam

    No full text
The essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the fruit of Illicium griffithii Hook. f. et Thoms. growing wild in Vietnam was investigated by a combination of GC and GC/MS. This oil was found to contain more than 70 compounds of which (X-pinene (19.4%), linalool (19.0%), limonene (13.2%) and 1,8-cineole (9.3%) were found to predominate

Chemical investigation of the aerial parts of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Sm. from Vietnam

The essential oils obtained from the aerial parts (stems, leaves and flowers) of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Sm. of Vietnamese origin were subjeeted to analyses by GC and GC/MS. About 40 compounds have been identified in the stem and leaf oils of this species, accounting for more than 84% and 82% of the oils, respectively. The major components of these oils appeared to be (Z)-nerolidol (16.8% and22.3%, respectively), ~-caryophyllene (10.4%,11.2%), zerumbone (21.3%,2.4%), and trans-phytol (7.0%,12.6%). Predominant minor constituents included ~-pinene (.5.4%, 5.2%), a-bumulene (2.5%, 2.9%), caryophyllene oxide (1.1 %,5.5%) and linalool (1.1%, 2.4%). The volatile flower oil was found to contain more than 60 components, of which 45 compounds, making up 85% of the oil, have been identified. (Z)-nerolidol (36.3%) and ~-caryophyllenc (13.2%) were the major constituents

Alpinia breviligulata Gagnep. is a wild plant blooming in August, whose flowers have a characteristic odor. The chem. compn. of the flower oil of this plant has been analyzed by a combination of capillary gas chromatog. and GC/MS. More than 35 components have been identified, of which a-pinene (12.7%), b-pinene (20.2%) and b-caryophyllene (14.0%) were the main compds. The components which provide the characteristic aroma are verbenone, bornyl acetate, hedycarvol, (E)-nerolidol, guaiol and b-eudesmo

The essential oil of the roots of Alpinia chinensis Rosc. of Vietnamese origin has been analyzed by a combination of high resoln. GC and GC/MS. Nineteen components, representing about 70% of the oil, have been identified. Most of them are sesquiterpenes such as b-caryophyllene (5.2%), a-humulene (6.2%), g-selinene (8.6%), valencene (5.2%), b-bisabolene (10.4%) and caryophyllene oxide (13.2%

The essential oil of the flowers of Alpinia chinensis Rose. of Vietnamese origin has been analYLed by a combination of high resolution GC and GC/MS. About 30 components have been identified, of which (E,E)-a-farnesene (26 .. 5%), a-humulene (22.3%), f3-bisabolene (17.1%) and [3-earyophyllene (13.1 %) were found to be the major compounds
