Transient Global Amnesia After Ablation of the Left Lateral Accessory Pathway
Transient global amnesia (TGA) could be encountered in many situations even during invasive procedures. In ablation therapy for arrhythmia, there was only one reported case in the ablation of premature ventricular beats. We report a 31-year-old man having paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia who underwent TGA at the end of ablation and recovered quickly after 8-9 hours later. Long-term follow-up showed no neurologic deficits for 8 months

Exploring tourist preferences of heritage attractions- Evidence from discrete choice modeling in Taiwan
This study focuses on the tourists’ preference evaluation on service attributes of heritage attractions by stated preference (SP) method and employs logit models to estimate the relative influences of service attributes on site choice behavior of heritage tourists. Also, this study valuates tourists’ willingness to pay for hypothetical managerial developments of the heritage service attributes. The results indicate that provision of outdoor café and restaurant service, operating hours until evening, and entrance fee in heritage attractions exhibit a statistically significant effect on probability of visitation. In addition, the results from welfare effects demonstrate that tourists are willing to pay extra money to utilize more service facilities for heritage attractions
Towards An Integrated Effort For Managing IT Process Standards Implementation
Adopting IT process standards seems to be a trend for IT organizations to meet ad-hoc informational needs and to provide better business value. Due to the changing environments of IT organizations themselves, one key to IT success lies in not only the establishment, but also the sustainability of ad-hoc professional IT functions. As IT organizations face many kinds of process standards to implement for various IT functions and although the implementations may be different due to various IT domains, from the management point of view, these implementations may not exist individually. This article attempts to highlight a possibility of an integrated effort to effectively manage the implementations of IT standards in an IT organization. Such a shared management refers to the integrated institutionalization design, which provides a road map for all IT functions to systematically improve and sustain the implementation results. A case example is provided for demonstrating the proposed attempt
RTHS of a BMD System
The building mass damper (BMD) system, which incorporates the concept of a tuned mass damper into a mid-story isolation system, has been demonstrated as an effective system for suppressing structural vibration due to earthquakes. The BMD system separates a building into a substructure, a control layer and a superstructure. By applying well-design parameters, the seismic responses of the superstructure and substructure of a building can be mitigated simultaneously. However, merely limited design parameters have been verified by shaking table testing because it is difficult to construct several sets of specimens with limited research funding. Therefore, real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) may become an alternative to conduct parametric studies of the BMD system efficiently and economically. In this study, the BMD system is separated into a numerical substructure and an experimental substructure. The experimental substructure includes the control layer and the superstructure of the BMD system installed on a seismic shake table while the substructure is numerically simulated. Then, substructuring method of the BMD system is derived and the stability analysis considering the dynamics of the shake table is performed to realize the potential feasibility of RTHS for BMD systems. The stability margin is represented as an allowable mass ratio of the experimental substructure to the entire BMD system. Finally, RTHS of a simplified BMD system has been conducted to verify the stability margin in the laboratory. Phase-lead compensation and force correction are applied to RTHS in order to improve the accuracy of RTHS for the simplified BMD system
Enhanced spontaneous emission from InAs/GaAs self-organized quantum dots in a GaAs photonic-crystal-based microcavity
Spontaneous emission characteristics of self-organized InAs/GaAs quantum dots embedded in a photonic-crystal-based microcavity are theoretically investigated. Results are obtained from a three-dimensional quasi-mode analysis of the photonic-crystal microcavity and through calculations of energy levels and eigenstates for electrons and holes in self-organized quantum dots. The spontaneous emission rate from quantum dots is significantly enhanced by up to a factor of 14, compared to that in free space. Online Auction Buyers’ Brain Images When Making Purchasing Decisions Involving Different Types of Rewards
In the past year, online auction sales on sites such as eBay and Yahoo!Auction have increased over 100 percent due to the pandemic, and the growth opportunities for the global online auction market are anticipated to continue until 2028 (Absolute Markets Insights 2020). When online auction buyers have a demand for a product, they usually buy it by going through a process of bidding behaviors to ensure that the final bidding price is commensurable to the product attributes. As indicated in prior studies, most consumers are sensitive to discounts and promotions, such as coupons and rebates (Akar and Nasir 2015; Dominique-Ferreira et al. 2016). More specifically, coupons are distributed in various forms, such as membership coins or points, and free or express delivery services. These different discount mechanisms influencing consumers’ purchasing decision-making processes can be generally categorized into two types of rewards: price-related and not price-related. The purpose of the current experimental study is to explore which type of rewards significantly influences online buyers’ purchasing intention in the context of bidding. The participants, who have experience in purchasing products on auction websites, are placed in a simulated online bidding context. Since brain imaging techniques have been validated in many research fields, this study’s participants’ brain images are also scanned and recorded during the entire experiment to further determine the significant level of neuron activities related to decision-making tasks in certain brain regions (i.e., medial prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex/nucleus accumbens, and insula). Other brain regions, such as the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, are also observed to find any significant activation during the experiment (Dimoka 2012; Knutson et al. 2007). Each bidding product (ranging from 8 to 30 USD) gives 1% of the product price as membership coins (price-related) or points (not price-related) to the participants while they view different types of products presented on the screen. The participants have to click on a yes-no button to indicate whether they have the intention to purchase the product. After the experiment, face-to-face interviews are carried out to verify their neural and behavioral responses. This study expects to make contributions to the e-commerce and neuromarketing fields
IT Portfolio Investment Evaluation on E-Commerce Solution Alternatives
Our study examines the group decision-making process and proposes a multi-criteria framework for e-commerce solution investment in information technology (IT) portfolios. First, the evaluation criteria that fit in the IT evaluation context are constructed. Second, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is employed to determine the weights of decision criteria and the benefit score to the company. Third, the Fuzzy Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (FMCDM) approach is used to synthesize the team decision.
