Laboratory study of electromagnetic initiation of slip
Recently Russian seismologists reported the triggering effect of MHD soundings on microseismic activity in the Central Asia test area.The paper focuses on an experimental test of the possibility of triggering the mechanical instability of a system that is close to critical state by a series of electromagnetic pulses.The mechanical system consisted of two pieces of rock;the upper piece can slip on the fixed supporting sample if the latter one is tilted up to the critical angle.In this state,the triggering of mechanical instability by some weak impact such as electrical pulse became more probable.The slope of support in the experiment is an analogue of tectonic stress in natural conditions.The preliminary experiments,carried out in a dry environment,at the humidity of atmosphere 30-50%,show that a strong EM-pulse induces sliding of a sample of rock (granite,basalt,labradorite)placed on the supporting sample which is inclined at the slope close to,but less than,the critical angle with a probability 0.07
Changes in rabbitsโ liver morphological parameters in simulation of hypoxia corrected by the use of the modified isotopic D/H composition in the water
The aim of the research was to study the effect of the water menu with a low D/H on morphological hepatocytes parameters in rabbits in modeling of an acute hypoxic liver damage. Methods: morphological research of liver tissues of the experimental animals had been done by cytological and histological methods, which had been prepared impression smear of the studying organ after which it had been stained with azur-eosin according to a common procedure; the blood plasma had been done by the pulsing nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer JEOL JNM-ECA 400MHz, evaluate an isotopic composition of rat lyophilized liver tissues had been used an isotopic mass-spectrometer DELTAplus. Results: There are the statistics presented in the given study reveal the feature of the water menu with the low deuterium concentration decreases the liver tissue damage in hypoxia simulating by the compression of a hepatoduodenal ligament. It was demonstrated that the use of the deuterium depleted water (DDW) reliably decreases the deuterium concentration in a blood plasma (by 32%) and in liver tissue (by 9%), which shows the effectiveness of the correlation of isotopic composition of internal environment and organs by the products with the low deuterium concentration. Conclusion: It has been established that the use of the DDW as a hepatoprotective measure is equal in its effectiveness to some of lipophilic antioxidants. This allows to use vegetative antioxidant factors and a water menu with a low deuterium concentration (40 ppm) as a combined measure, in order to correct morphological liver defects in its ischemic damage
Expression pattern of perilipins in human brain during aging and in Alzheimer's disease
Aims: Perilipins are conserved proteins that decorate intracellular lipid droplets and are essential for lipid metabolism. To date, there is limited knowledge on their expression in human brain or their involvement in brain aging and neurodegeneration. The aim of this study was to characterise the expression levels of perilipins (Plin1โPlin5) in different cerebral areas from subjects of different age, with or without signs of neurodegeneration. Methods: We performed real-time RT-PCR, western blotting, immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy analyses in autoptic brain samples of frontal and temporal cortex, cerebellum and hippocampus from subjects ranging from 33 to 104 years of age, with or without histological signs of neurodegeneration. To test the possible relationship between Plins and inflammation, correlation analysis with IL-6 expression was also performed. Results: Plin2, Plin3 and Plin5, but not Plin1 and Plin4, are expressed in the considered brain areas with different intensities. Plin2 appears to be expressed more in grey matter, particularly in neurons in all the areas analysed, whereas Plin3 and Plin5 appear to be expressed more in white matter. Plin3 seems to be expressed more in astrocytes. Only Plin2 expression is higher in old subjects and patients with early tauopathy or Alzheimer's disease and is associated with IL-6 expression. Conclusions: Perilipins are expressed in human brain but only Plin2 appears to be modulated with age and neurodegeneration and linked to an inflammatory state. We propose that the accumulation of lipid droplets decorated with Plin2 occurs during brain aging and that this accumulation may be an early marker and initial step of inflammation and neurodegeneration
Preliminary results of a study of air temperature distribution in Tbilisi into summer season
Measurements of air temperature in both regimes of stationary measurements on two fixed bases of observation (territory of the Institute of Geophysics - basic meteorological station and Tortoise Lake โ standard automatic meteorological station) and irregular mobile route regime measurements on 20-30 points in different districts of the city in the summer 2010 are carried out. Points of measurement settled down at the heights from 397 to 648 m above sea level. The distance from these points to a base station varies from 0.7 to 17.2 km. The maps of the spatial distribution of air temperature are represented. In particular, it is received that the temperature difference between a base station and points of measurements in various districts of the city reaches 5ยฐ

Changeability of surface ozone concentration in Tbilisi in last 30 year
Some results of the statistical analysis of observational data of the average semi-annual and annual values of the surface ozone concentration (SOC) in Tbilisi in the period from 1984 through 2013 are presented. Observational data for 15 hours are given. In the proposed work the analysis of data is carried out with the use of the standard statistical analysis methods of random events and methods of mathematical statistics for the non accidental time-series of observations. The statistical structure of the changeability of the mean annual, half year and monthly values of SOC in Tbilisi for the indicated period of time is investigated. Correlation connection between mean annual, half year and monthly values of SOC is established. The special features of the changeability of average monthly values of SOC on the three ten-year-old periods of time are studied.
