El uso de derivados financieros como mecanismo para reducir los riesgos financieros en la industria avícola del Ecuador

The poultry industry in Ecuador has an important relevance in the Gross Domestic Product and especially in the one that is related to the agriculture and livestock. This industry faces many risks, and the most relevant is the financial risk; the main source of this risk is the cost of the inputs for the birds’ commercial feed. In today’s market there are various instruments that are used to reduce or regulate these risks, which have not yet been used in Ecuador. This research is going to analyze if the use of future contracts would or would not be an effective way to reduce different risks in this industry.El sector avícola del Ecuador tiene un peso importante en el producto interno bruto agropecuario y en el producto interno bruto del pais. El sector enfrenta varios riesgos de los cuales los riesgos financieros es uno de los más importantes; el principal origen de este riesgo es el costo de los insumos para el alimento balanceado de las aves. En el mercado existen varios instrumentos para reducir o manejar estos riesgos, los cuales no han sido utilizados en el Ecuador.
