    The significance of investment is transparent in the world of competitive business. Traditional costing systems in which their emphasizes are for short term savings rather than long term benefits have shown some lacking in providing accurate and reliable cost data for the investment decisions. Activity-based Costing (ABC), which is developed to satisfy some of the weaknesses of the traditional costing systems, can provide valuable insights into the operating processes and come up with more accurate cost data. In this paper, ABC is used to provide significant information for investment decisions. Although, the ABC method provides accurate operating product costs, it does not identify which products are economic valued added creators and so contribute to companies’ wealth. This drawback can be overcome by applying Economic Value Added (EVA). The adoption of ABC and EVA can represent a considerable change in the managerial thinking and to corporate strategies and business performance

    A COMPARISON OF THE PUSH AND PULL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AT THEIR OPTI MAL DESIGNS UNDER THE ECONOMIC CONSIDERATION

    The term “push” and “pull” have been used to explain a wide variety of production inventory systems. The distinction refers to a specific attribute, which can be identified by observing the mechanisms for controlling material flow on the shop floor and a specific policy for the management of inventories and production schedules. This paper gives an attempt to compare these systems under their optimal settings under a constraint resource. Two optimal-seeking methods (Taguchi method and Response Surface Methodology) are used to suggest the optimized design of the system under an economic term, which is the profit generated from the system. Then, a fair comparison can be made where each system is operating at its optimal design. Results from this study will reveal an in teresting outcome, letting us know the impact of the push and pull mechanisms on the systems’ operating costs as well as their profits

The return-on-investment from strong and effective quality programs is providing excellent profitability results in firms with effective quality strategies. Due to the wide variation in quality results, the search for the genuine keys to success in quality has become a matter of deep concern to management of companies. This paper suggests a way to quantifying quality costs. As a result, the appropriate quality strategies can be adjusted and set to match with each company situation based on the categorization of the quality costs suggested. This outcome can, then, be used as a guideline for manufactures in setting their suitable quality program, which establishes the proper balance between the costs and customer services
