CP violation in a multi-Higgs doublet model with flavor changing neutral current
We study CP violation in a multi-Higgs doublet model based on a horizontal symmetry where CKM phase is not the principal source of CP
violation. We consider two mechanisms for CP violation in this model: a) CP
violation due to complex Yukawa couplings; and b) CP violation due to
scalar-pseudoscalar Higgs boson mixings. Both mechanisms can explain the
observed CP violation in the neutral Kaon system. due to
neutral Higgs boson exchange is small in both mechanisms, but charged Higgs
boson con- tributions can be as large as for a), and for
b). CP violation in the neutral B system is, however, quite different from the
Minimal Standard
Model. The neutron Electric Dipole Moment can be as large as the present ex-
perimental bound, and can be used to constrain charged Higgs boson masses.
The electron
EDM is one order of magnitude below the experimental bound in case b) and

Electron-Electron Interactions and the Hall-Insulator
Using the Kubo formula, we show explicitly that a non-interacting electron
system can not behave like a Hall-insulator, {\it ie.,} a DC resistivity matrix
and finite in the zero temperature
limit, as has been observed recently in experiment. For a strongly interacting
electron system in a magnetic field, we illustrate, by constructing a specific
form of correlations between mobile and localized electrons, that the Hall
resistivity can approximately equal to its classical value. A Hall-insulator is
realized in this model when the density of mobile electrons becomes vanishingly
small. It is shown that in non-interacting electron systems, the
zero-temperature frequency-dependent conductacnce generally does not give the

Hsp70 in mitochondrial biogenesis
The family of hsp70 (70 kilodalton heat shock protein) molecular chaperones plays an essential and diverse role in cellular physiology, Hsp70 proteins appear to elicit their effects by interacting with polypeptides that present domains which exhibit non-native conformations at distinct stages during their life in the cell. In this paper we review work pertaining to the functions of hsp70 proteins in chaperoning mitochondrial protein biogenesis. Hsp70 proteins function in protein synthesis, protein translocation across mitochondrial membranes, protein folding and finally the delivery of misfolded proteins to proteolytic enzymes in the mitochondrial matrix
Soil biochemistry and microbial activity in vineyards under conventional and organic management at Northeast Brazil.
The São Francisco Submedium Valley is located at the Brazilian semiarid region and is an important center for irrigated fruit growing. This region is responsible for 97% of the national exportation of table grapes, including seedless grapes. Based on the fact that organic fertilization can improve soil quality, we compared the effects of conventional and organic soil management on microbial activity and mycorrhization of seedless grape crops. We measured glomerospores number, most probable number (MPN) of propagules, richness of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species, AMF root colonization, EE-BRSP production, carbon microbial biomass (C-MB), microbial respiration, fluorescein diacetate hydrolytic activity (FDA) and metabolic coefficient (qCO2). The organic management led to an increase in all variables with the exception of EE-BRSP and qCO2. Mycorrhizal colonization increased from 4.7% in conventional crops to 15.9% in organic crops. Spore number ranged from 4.1 to 12.4 per 50 g-1 soil in both management systems. The most probable number of AMF propagules increased from 79 cm-3 soil in the conventional system to 110 cm-3 soil in the organic system. Microbial carbon, CO2 emission, and FDA activity were increased by 100 to 200% in the organic crop. Thirteen species of AMF were identified, the majority in the organic cultivation system. Acaulospora excavata, Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus sp.3 and Scutellospora sp. were found only in the organically managed crop. S. gregaria was found only in the conventional crop. Model Analysis of Time Reversal Symmetry Test in the Caltech Fe-57 Gamma-Transition Experiment
The CALTECH gamma-transition experiment testing time reversal symmetry via
the E2/M1 mulipole mixing ratio of the 122 keV gamma-line in Fe-57 has already
been performed in 1977. Extending an earlier analysis in terms of an effective
one-body potential, this experiment is now analyzed in terms of effective one
boson exchange T-odd P-even nucleon nucleon potentials. Within the model space
considered for the Fe-57 nucleus no contribution from isovector rho-type
exchange is possible. The bound on the coupling strength phi_A from effective
short range axial-vector type exchange induced by the experimental bound on
sin(eta) leads to phi_A < 10^{-2}.Comment: 5 pages, RevTex 3.
Another Two Dark Energy Models Motivated from Karolyhazy Uncertainty Relation
The Krolyhzy uncertainty relation
indicates that there exists the minimal detectable cell over the
region in Minkowski spacetime. Due to the energy-time uncertainty
relation, the energy of the cell can not be less .
Then we get a new energy density of metric fluctuations of Minkowski spacetime
as . Motivated by the energy density, we propose two new dark
energy models. One model is characterized by the age of the universe and the
other is characterized by the conformal age of the universe. We find that in
the two models, the dark energy mimics a cosmological constant in the late

BESII Detector Simulation
A Monte Carlo program based on Geant3 has been developed for BESII detector
simulation. The organization of the program is outlined, and the digitization
procedure for simulating the response of various sub-detectors is described.
Comparisons with data show that the performance of the program is generally

contribution peaks strongly near threshold. It is fitted with a
broad resonance with mass MeV, width MeV. A broad resonance peaking at 2020 MeV is also required
