    Objectives
This study is to investigate the angiogenesis and vasculogenesis at the first week of reperfused acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods
16 of mini-swines (20 to 30 Kg) were randomly assigned to the sham-operated group and the AMI group. The acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion model was created and the pig tail catheter was performed to monitor hemodynamics before left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) occlusion, 90 min of LAD occlusion and 120 min of LAD reperfusion. Pathologic myocardial tissue was collected at 7-day of LAD reperfusion and further assessed by immunochemistry, dual immunochemistry, in-situ hybridization, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot.
Results
The infarcted area had higher FLK1 mRNA expression than sham-operated area and the normal area (all P<0.05), and the infarcted and marginal areas showed higher CD146 protein expression than the sham-operated area (all P<0.05), but the microvessel density (CD31 positive expression of microvessels/HP) was not significantly different between the infarcted area and the sham-operated area (8.92±3.05 vs 6.43±1.54) at 7-day of reperfused acute myocardial infarction (P>0.05).
Conclusions
FLK1 and CD146 expression significantly increase in the infarcted and marginal areas, and the microvessel density is not significantly different between the infarcted area and the sham-operated area, suggesting that angiogenesis and vasculogenesis in the infarcted area appear to high frequency of increase in 7-day of reperfused myocardial infarction.

Photon-induced production of the mirror quarks from the LHTLHT model at the LHCLHC

The photon-induced processes at the LHCLHC provide clean experimental conditions due to absence of the proton remnants, which might produce complementary and interesting results for tests of the standard model and for searching of new physics. In the context of the littlest HiggsHiggs model with T-parity, we consider the photon-induced production of the mirror quarks at the LHCLHC. The cross sections for various production channels are calculated and a simply phenomenology analysis is performed by assuming leptonic decays.Comment: 20 pages, 10 figure

Top quark chromomagnetic dipole moment in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity

The littlest Higgs model with T-parity, which is called LHTLHT model, predicts the existence of the new particles, such as heavy top quark, heavy gauge bosons, and mirror fermions. We calculate the one-loop contributions of these new particles to the top quark chromomagnetic dipole moment (CMDM)(CMDM) ΔK\Delta K. We find that the contribution of the LHTLHT model is one order of magnitude smaller than the standard model prediction value.Comment: latex files, 12 pages, 3 figure

Examining the Factors Influencing Consumers’ Purchasing Intention for Genetically Modified Agricultural Food

The application of genetic engineering to food is becoming popular worldwide, especially in UK and USA. However, consumers in Asia remain unsure of the risks and benefits of genetically modified food. To measure the purchase intentions of Taiwanese and Vietnamese consumers using an integrated framework of the attitude model and the behavioral intention model, quantitative research was conducted in which the questionnaires were distributed to respondents living in Taiwan and in Vietnam. The results showed that the dependent variable of consumer attitude was positively impacted by three in-dependent variables including perceived risk to health, perceived benefit to health, and perceived benefit to the environment. The other construct showed no significant effect on consumers’ attitudes in the two countries. The consistency result in both countries between subjective norm and attitude revealed a positive impact on the purchase intention in descending order, while the variable of perceived behavioral control did not contribute to affecting purchase intention significantly. Finally, limitations and suggestions for future studies are also proposed

Lepton flavor violation decays τμP1P2\tau^-\to \mu^- P_1 P_2 in the topcolor-assisted technicolor model and the littlest Higgs model with TT parity

The new particles predicted by the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2TC2) model and the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (called LHTLHT model) can induce the lepton flavor violation (LFVLFV) couplings at tree level or one loop level, which might generate large contributions to some LFVLFV processes. Taking into account the constraints of the experimental data on the relevant free parameters, we calculate the branching ratios of the LFVLFV decay processes τμP1P2\tau^-\to\mu^- P_1 P_2 with P1P2P_1 P_2 = π+π\pi^+\pi^-, K+KK^+K^- and K0K0ˉK^0\bar{K^0} in the context of these two kinds of new physics models. We find that the TC2TC2 model and the LHTLHT model can indeed produce significant contributions to some of these LFVLFV decay processes.Comment: 24 pages, 7 figure

Reduced Ca2+ transport across sarcolemma but enhanced spontaneous activity in cardiomyocytes isolated from left atrium-pulmonary veins tissue of myopathic hamster

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Several lines of evidence point to a particularly important role of the left atrium (LA) in initiating and maintaining atrial fibrillation (AF). This role may be related to the location of pulmonary veins (PVs) in the LA. The aim of the present study was to investigate the action potential (AP) and ionic currents in LA-PV cardiomyocytes isolated from Bio14.6 myopathic Syrian hamsters (36-57 week-old) versus age-matched F1B healthy control hamsters.</p> <p>Methods and Results</p> <p>Whole-cell patch-clamp techniques were used to record AP in current-clamp mode and ionic currents in voltage-clamp mode. The results obtained show that in both healthy and myopathic LA-PV tissue spontaneously discharging cardiomyocytes can be found, but they are more numerous in myopathic (9/29) than in healthy hamsters (4/42, p < 0.05 by χ2 analysis). Myopathic myocytes have shorter AP duration (APD) with smaller ICa,L and INCX than the healthy control. The currents ITO, IK, IK1 and ICa,T are not significantly different in myopathic versus healthy cells.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Our results indicate that in myopathic Syrian hamsters LA-PV cardiomyocytes are more prone to automatic rhythms. Also, they show altered electrophysiologic properties, which may be due to abnormal Ca2+ channels and may account for contractile dysfunction.</p

Precise limits from lepton flavour violating processes on the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity

We recalculate the leading one-loop contributions to mu > e gamma and mu -> eee in the Littlest Higgs model with T-parity, recovering previous results for the former. When all the Goldstone interactions are taken into account, the latter is also ultraviolet finite. The present experimental limits on these processes require a somewhat heavy effective scale ~2.5 TeV, or the flavour alignment of the Yukawa couplings of light and heavy leptons at the ~10% level, or the splitting of heavy lepton masses to a similar precision. Present limits on tau decays set no bounds on the corresponding parameters involving the tau leptonComment: 41 pages, 11 figures; v3: matches published version in JHE

Effects of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity on Higgs boson production at high energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} colliders

The Higgs boson production processes e+eZHe^{+}e^{-}\to ZH, e+eνeˉνeHe^{+}e^{-}\to \bar{\nu_{e}}\nu_{e}H, and e+ettˉHe^{+}e^{-}\to t\bar{t}H are very important for studying Higgs boson properties and further testing new physics beyond the standard model(SMSM) in the high energy linear e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider(ILCILC). We estimate the contributions of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity(LHTLHT model) to these processes and find that the LHTLHT model can generate significantly corrections to the production cross sections of these processes. We expect the possible signals of the LHTLHT model can be detected via these processes in the future ILCILC experiments.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, references adde

Pair production of the T-odd leptons at the LHC

The T-odd leptons predicted by the littlest HiggsHiggs model with T-parity can be pair produced via the subprocesses ggH+Hgg\to \ell^{+}_{H}\ell^{-}_{H}, qqˉH+Hq\bar{q}\to \ell^{+}_{H}\ell^{-}_{H}, γγH+H\gamma\gamma\to \ell^{+}_{H}\ell^{-}_{H} and VVH+H VV \to \ell^{+}_{H}\ell^{-}_{H} (VV=WW or ZZ) at the CERNCERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC)(LHC). We estimate the hadronic production cross sections for all of these processes and give a simply phenomenology analysis. We find that the cross sections for most of the above processes are very small. However, the value of the cross section for the DrellYanDrell-Yan process qqˉH+Hq\bar{q}\to \ell^{+}_{H}\ell^{-}_{H} can reach 270fb270fb.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure
