New fabrication techniques for high quality photonic crystals
We have developed new methods for the fabrication of high quality two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) photonic crystals. These techniques involve anisotropic etching and steam oxidation of AlAs mask layers. We have made manufacturable 2D photonic crystals with high aspect ratios for use as micropolarizers and have measured extinction ratios larger than 800 to 1 between TE and TM modes transmitted through these structures. The new Al2O3 mask fabrication technique also allows us to fabricate 3D structures with up to six repeating layers in depth and over 90% attenuation in the band gap region. Hotel service recovery and service quality: Influences of corporate image and generational differences in the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty
As the number of tourists continues to grow globally, the hospitality industry players inevitably face more challenges. High competition among the competitors and the emergence of new technologies such as online booking platforms make the competition more intense among players in the hospitality sector. The quality of services provided is undoubtedly crucial to the success of the hotel. Hence, any service failure has to be addressed appropriately in order to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and to keep the image of the hotel intact. It is therefore vital that service recovery programs are carefully planned to meet various types of service failures which may inevitably occur. In this study, questionnaires were distributed to customers who had experienced service failures. The aim was to investigate the influence of service quality and service recovery on satisfaction and, ultimately, the effect on customer loyalty. The research also tested the mediating effect of corporate image between the relationship of customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. The findings showed that both service recovery and service quality had a significant impact on customer satisfaction. Similarly, it was found that customer satisfaction induced customer loyalty towards the hotel operator. The result also showed that corporate image mediated partially between the relationship of customer satisfaction and customer loyalty
Experimental investigation of the non-Markovian dynamics of classical and quantum correlations
We experimentally investigate the dynamics of classical and quantum
correlations of a Bell diagonal state in a non-Markovian dephasing environment.
The sudden transition from classical to quantum decoherence regime is observed
during the dynamics of such kind of Bell diagonal state. Due to the refocusing
effect of the overall relative phase, the quantum correlation revives from near
zero and then decays again in the subsequent evolution. However, the
non-Markovian effect is too weak to revive the classical correlation, which
remains constant in the same evolution range. With the implementation of an
optical operation, the sudden transition from quantum to classical
revival regime is obtained and correlation echoes are formed. Our method can be
used to control the revival time of correlations, which would be important in

Entanglement control in one-dimensional random XY spin chain
The entanglement in one-dimensional random XY spin systems where the
impurities of exchange couplings and the external magnetic fields are
considered as random variables is investigated by solving the different
spin-spin correlation functions and the average magnetization per spin. The
entanglement dynamics near particular locations of the system is also studied
when the exchange couplings (or the external magnetic fields) satisfy three
different distributions(the Gaussian distribution, double-Gaussian
distribution, and bimodal distribution). We find that the entanglement can be
controlled by varying the strength of external magnetic field and the different
distributions of impurities. Moreover, the entanglement of some
nearest-neighboring qubits can be increased for certain parameter values of the

Higgs Boson Production and Decay in Little Higgs Models with T-parity
We study Higgs boson production and decay in a certain class of Little Higgs
models with T-parity in which some T-parity partners of the Standard Model (SM)
fermions gain their masses through Yukawa-type couplings. We find that the
Higgs boson production cross section of a 120 GeV Higgs boson at the CERN LHC
via gg fusion process at one-loop level could be reduced by about 45%, 35% and
20%, as compared to its SM prediction, for a relatively low new particle mass
scale f = 600, 700 and 1000 GeV, respectively. On the other hand, the weak
boson fusion cross section is close to the SM value. Furthermore, the Higgs
boson decay branching ratio into di-photon mode can be enhanced by about 35% in
small Higgs mass region in certain case, for the total decay width of Higgs

The entanglement in one-dimensional random XY spin chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction
The impurities of exchange couplings, external magnetic fields and
Dzyaloshinskii--Moriya (DM) interaction considered as Gaussian distribution,
the entanglement in one-dimensional random spin systems is investigated by
the method of solving the different spin-spin correlation functions and the
average magnetization per spin. The entanglement dynamics at central locations
of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic chains have been studied by varying the
three impurities and the strength of DM interaction. (i) For ferromagnetic spin
chain, the weak DM interaction can improve the amount of entanglement to a
large value, and the impurities have the opposite effect on the entanglement
below and above critical DM interaction. (ii) For antiferromagnetic spin chain,
DM interaction can enhance the entanglement to a steady value. Our results
imply that DM interaction strength, the impurity and exchange couplings (or
magnetic field) play competing roles in enhancing quantum entanglement.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
Entanglement dynamics of two-qubit system in different types of noisy channels
In this paper, we study entanglement dynamics of a two-qubit extended
Werner-like state locally interacting with independent noisy channels, i.e.,
amplitude damping, phase damping and depolarizing channels. We show that the
purity of initial entangled state has direct impacts on the entanglement
robustness in each noisy channel. That is, if the initial entangled state is
prepared in mixed instead of pure form, the state may exhibit entanglement
sudden death (ESD) and/or be decreased for the critical probability at which

Entanglement and quantum phase transition in alternating XY spin chain with next-nearest neighbour interactions
By using the method of density-matrix renormalization-group to solve the
different spin-spin correlation functions, the nearest-neighbouring
entanglement(NNE) and next-nearest-neighbouring entanglement(NNNE) of
one-dimensional alternating Heisenberg XY spin chain is investigated in the
presence of alternating nearest neighbour interactions of exchange couplings,
external magnetic fields and next-nearest neighbouring interactions. For
dimerized ferromagnetic spin chain, NNNE appears only above the critical
dimerized interaction, meanwhile, the dimerized interaction effects quantum
phase transition point and improves NNNE to a large value. We also study the
effect of ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic next-nearest neighboring (NNN)
interactions on the dynamics of NNE and NNNE. The ferromagnetic NNN interaction
increases and shrinks NNE below and above critical frustrated interaction
respectively, while the antiferromagnetic NNN interaction always decreases NNE.
The antiferromagnetic NNN interaction results to a larger value of NNNE in

Noninvasive Wireless Sensor PFMT Device for Pelvic Floor Muscle Training
[[abstract]]Urinary incontinence is a common problem among adults. Studies have shown up to 70% improvement in stress incontinence symptoms following appropriately performed pelvic floor exercise. This improvement is evident across all age groups. In this study, we cooperated with a doctor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. We developed a noninvasive device with the purpose of helping patients commence and perform pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT). This device consists of a PFMT device, an Arduino control board, a force sensor, a Bluetooth device, and an SD card. The objectives of this study are to train patients to inhibit detrusor contraction voluntarily and to contract periurethral muscles selectively. The system records and analyzes sensor data and provides voice prompts during PFMT exercise for patients at hospitals or their homes. Meanwhile, it tracks patients’ PFMT exercise at home, and doctors can contact patients for additional visitation(s) if necessary.[[incitationindex]]SCI[[booktype]]紙
Service recovery, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty: Evidence from Malaysia’s hotel industry
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of service recovery dimensions on customer satisfaction and, subsequently, on customer loyalty in the context of the hotel industry.
Design/methodology/approach – A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 500 respondents who had the experiences of staying in the hotels in Malaysia. The structural equation modelling technique was used to study the relationship between the model and the developed hypotheses.
Findings – The findings revealed that service recovery dimensions are significantly related to customer
satisfaction and have a positive relationship between customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Practical implications – As the main sector in the hospitality business, hotels play a vital role in the
tourism industry. Therefore, the developments in tourism and hotels go hand in hand, as they are mutually dependent on each other. With significant yearly developments in the tourism industry and at a constant rate, hotel operators should reconsider their business strategies to achieve customer loyalty and sustain their businesses. In view of that, the findings of this study not only benchmarks better hotel services but also provides an improved understanding of service recovery that will effectively aid hotel operators in handling service failures; otherwise, customer dissatisfaction may occur if poor service recovery strategies are implemented.
Originality/value – The intense competition in the service industry has driven companies to place extra attention on service recovery so as to ensure continuous success. With a yearly significant development in the tourism industry at a constant rate, hotel providers (one of the major beneficiaries) are driven to reconsider their business strategies to achieve customer loyalty and sustain their business
