A new monetary aggregates measurement: Application to Taiwanese data

This paper compares the different dynamics of simple sum monetary aggregates and PLS indexes over the business cycle, which have turning points at economic expansion and recession phases. We also investigates the long run relationship between monetary aggregates and GDP, to utilize the data in the most efficient manner via the nonparametric rank test of cointegration analysis proposed by Breitung (2001), and the impulse response functions to find the response of GDP to innovations in PLS and simple sum aggregates from 1969Q1 to 2010Q3.monetary aggregates, PLS, business cycle, cointegration, impulse response functions

How Employee Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence Affects Self-Evaluation: Investigating Implications for Job Insecurity and Career Commitment

    Get PDF
This research delves into the transformative influence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) on the self-evaluation processes of employees within contemporary organizations. In an era marked by rapid technological advancements, the integration of AI into various facets of the workplace is reshaping traditional paradigms. We use Self-Evaluation Maintenance (SEM) Model, which is our theoretical lens, and combining with the concept of Core Self-Evaluation (CSE) to conduct our research model. This study seeks to elucidate whether the usage of GenAI, specifically in the context of performance compares to GenAI, and then the impact on CSE, which we plan to use in this research, has discernible effects on how employees perceive and evaluate their own contributions. In addition, we adapt various reliable scales to assess the constructs in our research model. This research employs surveys and content analysis of questionnaire data to investigate the perceptions of employees in organizations that have introduced GenAI-driven tools for performance appraisal. The objective is to determine whether these tools, by providing real-time feedback, personalized recommendations, and novel evaluation metrics, result in changed self-perceptions and attitudes towards one\u27s work

Direct Observation of Long-Term Durability of Superconductivity in YBa2_2Cu3_3O7_7-Ag2_2O Composites

We report direct observation of long-term durability of superconductivity of several YBa2_2Cu3_3O7_7-Ag2_2O composites that were first prepared and studied almost 14 years ago [J. J. Lin {\it et al}., Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. {\bf 29}, 497 (1990)]. Remeasurements performed recently on both resistances and magnetizations indicate a sharp critical transition temperature at 91 K. We also find that such long-term environmental stability of high-temperature superconductivity can only be achieved in YBa2_2Cu3_3O7_7 with Ag2_2O addition, but not with pure Ag addition.Comment: to be published in Jpn. Fluctuations of Entropy Production in Partially Masked Electric Circuits: Theoretical Analysis

In this work we perform theoretical analysis about a coupled RC circuit with constant driven currents. Starting from stochastic differential equations, where voltages are subject to thermal noises, we derive time-correlation functions, steady-state distributions and transition probabilities of the system. The validity of the fluctuation theorem (FT) is examined for scenarios with complete and incomplete descriptions.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Unifying and Merging Well-trained Deep Neural Networks for Inference Stage

We propose a novel method to merge convolutional neural-nets for the inference stage. Given two well-trained networks that may have different architectures that handle different tasks, our method aligns the layers of the original networks and merges them into a unified model by sharing the representative codes of weights. The shared weights are further re-trained to fine-tune the performance of the merged model. The proposed method effectively produces a compact model that may run original tasks simultaneously on resource-limited devices. As it preserves the general architectures and leverages the co-used weights of well-trained networks, a substantial training overhead can be reduced to shorten the system development time. Experimental results demonstrate a satisfactory performance and validate the effectiveness of the method.Comment: To appear in the 27th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the 23rd European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2018. Momentum Distribution for Bosons with Positive Scattering Length in a Trap

The coordinate-momentum double distribution function ρ(r,p)d3rd3p\rho ({\bf r}, {\bf p}) d^{3}rd^{3}p is calculated in the local density approximation for bosons with positive scattering length aa in a trap. The calculation is valid to the first order of aa. To clarify the meaning of the result, it is compared for a special case with the double distribution function ρwd3rd3p\rho_{w}d^{3} rd^{3}p of Wigner.Comment: Latex fil

Is clopidogrel better than aspirin following breakthrough strokes while on aspirin? A retrospective cohort study.

ObjectiveThere is insufficient evidence on which to base a recommendation for optimal antiplatelet therapy following a stroke while on aspirin. The objective was to compare clopidogrel initiation vs aspirin reinitiation for vascular risk reduction among patients with ischaemic stroke on aspirin at the time of their index stroke.DesignRetrospective.SettingWe conducted a nationwide cohort study by retrieving all hospitalised patients (≄18 years) with a primary diagnosis of ischaemic stroke between 2003 and 2009 from Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database.ParticipantsAmong 3862 patients receiving aspirin before the index ischaemic stroke and receiving either aspirin or clopidogrel after index stroke during follow-up period, 1623 were excluded due to a medication possession ratio <80%. Also, 355 were excluded due to history of atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease or coagulopathy. Therefore, 1884 patients were included in our final analysis.InterventionsPatients were categorised into two groups based on whether clopidogrel or aspirin was prescribed during the follow-up period. Follow-up was from time of the index stroke to admission for recurrent stroke or myocardial infarction, death or the end of 2010.Primary and secondary outcome measuresThe primary end point was hospitalisation due to a new-onset major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE: composite of any stroke or myocardial infarction). The leading secondary end point was any recurrent stroke.ResultsCompared to aspirin, clopidogrel was associated with a lower occurrence of future MACE (HR=0.54, 95% CI 0.43 to 0.68, p<0.001, number needed to treat: 8) and recurrent stroke (HR=0.54, 95% CI 0.42 to 0.69, p<0.001, number needed to treat: 9) after adjustment of relevant covariates.ConclusionsAmong patients with an ischaemic stroke while taking aspirin, clopidogrel initiation was associated with fewer recurrent vascular events than aspirin reinitiation
