A Note on Doubly Warped Product Contact CR-Submanifolds in trans-Sasakian Manifolds

Warped product CR-submanifolds in Kaehlerian manifolds were intensively studied only since 2001 after the impulse given by B.Y. Chen. Immediately after, another line of research, similar to that concerning Sasakian geometry as the odd dimensional version of Kaehlerian geometry, was developed, namely warped product contact CR-submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds. In this note we proved that there exists no proper doubly warped product contact CR-submanifolds in trans-Sasakian manifolds.Comment: 5 Latex page

Magnetic Monopole Content of Hot Instantons

We study the Abelian projection of an instanton in R3×S1R^3 \times S^1 as a function of temperature (T) and non-trivial holonomic twist (ω\omega) of the Polyakov loop at infinity. These parameters interpolate between the circular monopole loop solution at T=0 and the static 't Hooft-Polyakov monopole/anti-monopole pair at high temperature.Comment: 3 pages, LATTICE98(confine), LaTeX, PostScript figures include

Scanning tunneling spectroscopic studies of the pairing state of cuprate superconductors

    Get PDF
Quasiparticle tunneling spectra of both hole-doped (p-type) and electron-doped (n-type) cuprates are studied using a low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope. The results reveal that neither the pairing symmetry nor the pseudogap phenomenon is universal among all cuprates, and that the response of n-type cuprates to quantum impurities is drastically different from that of the p-type cuprates. The only ubiquitous features among all cuprates appear to be the strong electronic correlation and the nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic Cu2+-Cu2+ coupling in the CuO2 planes

Ground State Properties of Anderson Impurity in a Gapless Host

Using the Bethe ansatz method, we study the ground state properties of a U→∞U\to\infty Anderson impurity in a ``gapless'' host, where a density of band states vanishes at the Fermi level ϵF\epsilon_F as ∣ϵ−ϵF∣|\epsilon-\epsilon_F|. As in metals, the impurity spin is proven to be screened at arbitrary parameters of the system. However, the impurity occupancy as a function of the bare impurity energy is shown to acquire novel qualitative features which demonstrate a nonuniversal behavior of the system. The latter explains why the Kondo screening is absent (or exists only at quite a large electron-impurity coupling) in earlier studies based on scaling arguments.Comment: 5 pages, no figure, RevTe

Finite temperature spin-dynamics and phase transitions in spin-orbital models

We study finite temperature properties of a generic spin-orbital model relevant to transition metal compounds, having coupled quantum Heisenberg-spin and Ising-orbital degrees of freedom. The model system undergoes a phase transition, consistent with that of a 2D Ising model, to an orbitally ordered state at a temperature set by short-range magnetic order. At low temperatures the orbital degrees of freedom freeze-out and the model maps on to a quantum Heisenberg model. The onset of orbital excitations causes a rapid scrambling of the spin spectral weight away from coherent spin-waves, which leads to a sharp increase in uniform magnetic susceptibility just below the phase transition, reminiscent of the observed behavior in the Fe-pnictide materials.Comment: 4 page

Qubit-portraits of qudit states and quantum correlations

The machinery of qubit-portraits of qudit states, recently presented, is consider here in more details in order to characterize the presence of quantum correlations in bipartite qudit states. In the tomographic representation of quantum mechanics, Bell-like inequalities are interpreted as peculiar properties of a family of classical joint probability distributions which describe the quantum state of two qudits. By means of the qubit-portraits machinery a semigroup of stochastic matrices can be associated to a given quantum state. The violation of the CHSH inequalities is discussed in this framework with some examples, we found that quantum correlations in qutrit isotropic states can be detected by the suggested method while it cannot in the case of qutrit Werner states.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure

Universal Parametric Correlations of Eigenvalues of Random Matrix Ensemble

Eigenvalue correlations of random matrix ensembles as a function of an external perturbation are investigated vis the Dyson Brownian Motion Model in the situation where the level density has a hard edge singularity. By solving a linearized hydrodynamical equation, a universal dependence of the density-density correlator on the external field is found. As an application we obtain a formula for the variance of linear statistics with the parametric dependence exhibited as a Laplace transform.Comment: 23 pages, late
