    Inconsistency of Naive Dimensional Regularizations and Quantum Correction to Non-Abelian Chern-Simons-Matter Theory Revisited

    We find the inconsistency of dimensional reduction and naive dimensional regularization in their applications to Chern-Simons type gauge theories. Further we adopt a consistent dimensional regularization to investigate the quantum correction to non-Abelian Chern-Simons term coupled with fermionic matter. Contrary to previous results, we find that not only the Chern-Simons coefficient receives quantum correction from spinor fields, but the spinor field also gets a finite quantum correction.Comment: 19 pages, RevTex, Feynman diagrams drawn by FEYNMAN routin

    Suppression of the superconducting energy gap in intrinsic Josephson junctions of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ\mathbf{Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+\delta}} single crystals

    We have observed back-bending structures at high bias current in the current-voltage curves of intrinsic Josephson junctions. These structures may be caused by nonequilibrium quasiparticle injection and/or Joule heating. The energy gap suppression varies considerably with temperature. Different levels of the suppression are observed when the same level of current passes through top electrodes of different sizes. Another effect which is seen and discussed, is a super-current ``reentrance'' of a single intrinsic Josephson junction with high bias current.Comment: accepted by Supercond. Sci. and Tech., 200

    Magneto-Infrared Spectroscopic Study of Ultrathin Bi2_{2}Te3_{3} Single Crystals

    Ultrathin Bi2_{2}Te3_{3} single crystals laid on Scotch tape are investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy at 44K and in a magnetic field up to 3535T. The magneto-transmittance spectra of the Bi2_{2}% Te3_{3}/tape composite are analyzed as a two-layer system and the optical conductivity of Bi2_{2}Te3_{3} at different magnetic fields are extracted. We find that magnetic field modifies the optical conductivity in the following ways: (1) Field-induced transfer of the optical weight from the lower frequency regime (<250<250cm−1^{-1}) to the higher frequency regime (% >250cm−1^{-1}) due to the redistribution of charge carriers across the Fermi surface. (2) Evolving of a Fano-resonance-like spectral feature from an anti-resonance to a resonance with increasing magnetic field. Such behavior can be attributed to the electron-phonon interactions between the % E_{u}^{1} optical phonon mode and the continuum of electronic transitions. (3) Cyclotron resonance resulting from the inter-valence band Landau level transitions, which can be described by the electrodynamics of massive Dirac holes

    Relativistic Mean Field Theory in the rotating frame is used to describe superdeformed nuclei. Nuclear currents and the resulting spatial components of the vector meson fields are fully taken into account.     By applying the simple and effective method developed to study the the gauge-invariant fermion Green function in 2+1 2+1 dimensional non-compact QED, we study the gauge-invariant Green function in 3+1 3+1 dimensional QED and 2+1 2+1 dimensional non-compact Chern-Simon theory. We also extend our results to the corresponding SU(M) SU(M) non-Abelian gauge theories.     Warped compactification on curved manifolds

    The characterization of a six- (or seven)-dimensional internal manifold with metric as having positive, zero or negative curvature is expected to be an important aspect of warped compactifications in supergravity. In this context, Douglas and Kallosh recently pointed out that a compact internal space with negative curvature could help to construct four-dimensional de Sitter solutions only if the extra dimensions are strongly warped or there are large stringy corrections. That is, the problem of finding 4-dimensional de Sitter solutions is well posed, if all extra dimensions are physically compact, which is called a no-go theorem. Here, we show that the above conclusion does not extend to a general class of warped compactifications in classical supergravity that allow a non-compact direction or cosmological solutions for which the internal space is asymptotic to a cone over a product of compact Einstein spaces or spheres. For clarity, we present classical solutions that compactify higher-dimensional spacetime to produce a Robertson--Walker universe with de Sitter-type expansion plus one extra non-compact direction. Such models are found to admit both an effective four-dimensional Newton constant that remains finite and a normalizable zero-mode graviton wavefunction.
