Instructional Experiment Of Practical Competencies-Oriented Teaching Materials In Technical Universities

    Get PDF
This study aims to conduct experimental instruction on the human resource management unit of business management in practical competencies-oriented business program developed by Chen (2005). This study is based on the quasi-experiment method and the subjects are two classes of students in a four-year technical university who have completed the two-credit “Management” class in the previous semester. Experimental results showed that the teaching materials and supplementary cases can enhance students’ learning achievement; however, problem-solving attitude is not significantly improved

Bell's Inequality and Entanglement in Qubits

We propose an alternative evaluation of quantum entanglement by measuring the maximum violation of the Bell's inequality without performing a partial trace operation. This proposal is demonstrated by bridging the maximum violation of the Bell's inequality and the concurrence of a pure state in an nn-qubit system, in which one subsystem only contains one qubit and the state is a linear combination of two product states. We apply this relation to the ground states of four qubits in the Wen-Plaquette model and show that they are maximally entangled. A topological entanglement entropy of the Wen-Plaquette model could be obtained by relating the upper bound of the maximum violation of the Bell's inequality to the concurrences of a pure state with respect to different bipartitions.Comment: 10 page

The Relationship between Stock Price and EPS: Evidence Based on Taiwan Panel Data

In this study, we use panel cointegration methods to investigate the relationship between stock prices and earnings-per-share (EPS). Furthermore, we consider whether stock prices respond to EPS under the different level of growth rate of operating revenue. The empirical result indicated that the cointegration relationship existed between stock prices and EPS in the long-run. Furthermore, we found that for the firm with a high level of growth rate, EPS has less power in explaining the stock prices however, for the firm with a low level of growth rate, EPS has a strong impact in stock prices.Earnings Response Coefficient (ERC)

The Effects of Product Knowledge and Internet Experience on Online Shopping Behavior

    Get PDF
Thanks to tremendous growth of e-commerce and the advancement of Internet infrastructure, the online shopping medium has become a staple in many world economies. The present study examines how the consumer’s product knowledge and Internet experience affect the level of uncertainty and perceived risk. Potential dimensions of product knowledge and Internet experience are developed and examined. Their effects on uncertainty and risk perception are proposed. An add-on model linking product knowledge, Internet experience, uncertainty, risk, trust, and purchase intention is developed. The add-on model is incorporated into an existing model of online shopping process (NetShop). The revised overall model suggests how online shopping intention can be affected by the level of product knowledge and Internet experience, via their effects on uncertainty and perceived risk, as well as the three original factors, interactivity, transaction, and fulfillment

The Internet Shopping Process: An Empirical Model, Research Findings, and Financial Implications

Thanks to the tremendous growth of e-commerce, the U.S. economy has gone through rapid facelift. New start-up companies and existing retail power players compete for market position in the new millennium. Traditional retailers engage in business model reengineering to keep up with the changes in how customers acquire goods and services. How to attract on-line shoppers to their sites has become a fundamental task for Internet marketers. The present study examines how on-line shoppers perceive their on-line shopping experience in a major metropolitan area. An Internet shopping model, implications, and future research directions are offered

Multiple Facets of Damage Caused by Exposure to Low-Dose Radiation and the Legal Remedy

In addition to the toll in human life, there are at least three facets of damage caused by the protracted exposure to low-dose radiation: bodily injury, mental anguish, and property injury. After examining cases and compensation schemes in the United States and Taiwan, this article concludes that both the Taiwanese administrative compensation scheme and U.S. federal courts\u27 interpretation of the Price-Anderson Act favor finding injury to the claimants\u27 property, but not adverse effects to their health. To redress the injustice caused by the systemic bias, this article argues that the tort system should be adapted to tolerate gray area, such as the adoption of the probability of causation. This article further argues that the probability of causation should be applied in calculating damages in the radiation-exposure context
